    I'll start with a funny/strange one.

The reason that Junior dos Santos is nicknamed "Cigano" is because back in the day he used to show up to BJJ practice with his long hair (!) tied back into a ponytail (!!) which made him look like the character "Cigano" from an old Brazilian soap opera.

Goodridge has a loss to Mario Neto that is listed as Submission (No apparent reason). I heard Goodridge has said its because he had the runs and would rather take the L than **** himself in front of the crowd lol.

    Couture's degree was German.

Antoni Inoki tried to recruit Brock Lesnar to New Japan in 2000/2001. Given Inoki's links to J-MMA that'd probably have meant Lesnar fighting in Pride or K-1.

Chael Sonnen was about to start training to be a pro-wrestling at the WCW power plant when the promotion folded. He got tips on how to deliver promos from Roddy Pipper in preparation for his fight against Anderson Silva.

Freddie Roach has trained both GSP and Anderson Silva. He says GSP is the strong of the two and the more dedicated student but Silva is more naturally gifted (even if he slacks off in training).

    Gray Maynard has a stutter

Alistair Overeem is the linear heavyweight champion of the world.

Shortly before he signed to Chuck Liddell, Couture spent several days training with the guys at The Pit and secretly scouting Chuck.

Chuck notoriously benefited from well-timed finger pokes in several fights (most notably Couture II). The finger poke is a prominent tactic in his striking base, kempo karate.

    Will think of more.
