"Trying to win" :huh After teh 1st knockdown his glass heart shattered And he took a stupidly obvious dive! Whatever man, i think you ignored teh point i was trying to make.
the point you tried to make was that tyson looked just as good outside of what I said his prime was, as he did inside of what I said his prime was. It's a valid point. I just don't hold fighter's none prime losses against them. Had Tyson never gone to Prison, and stayed active during those years, It hink he would have still been prime by 97 providing he cleaned his act up a bit outside the ring. but he didn't. It's not just tyson, eveyr fighter I study, I determine my opinion on their prime and hold only those losses against them. If you disagree with my ethos, fine, it's a subjective sport which encourages debate anyways :good
Did you see his fight against Clifford Etienne? His head movement was like late 80's Tyson.. Freddie in his corner.. Man that was a awesome fight..
Ok, But don't twist my words m8, I said Tyson, Lewis And Holyfield looked BETTER, not "just as good" in some fights as past-primers, than in some fights where they bodys were naturally biologically "prime". :thumbsup
You seem naturally defensive today buddy, did the foreman hook/youporn plan go terribly wrong I agree at times they pulled out great perfromances outside of their prime, I think that's a measure of greatness though.
Bruno was a stiff ? Are you joking ? He just can off his biggest career win, won eight of his last nine bouts and was riding high as defending champion ... let's give Mike credit where it is due ... he destroyed Bruno that night and looked terrific doing so ...
Nope m8, my girlfriend is on her period, so no sex for Hook. :-( Mint post m8. :thumbsup Bruno boxed McCall's socks off, and then Tinkerbell trashed him.
Tyson really didnt start looking like a fighter again until he parted ways with Bright as the lead trainer. The early wins with Jay Bright were just him trying to walk through guys, but he was making a lot mistakes that the better fighters were going to take advantage of. I think Richie Giachetti had him on the right track against Holyfield in the second fight but he couldnt hold it together. Tyson became so spoiled in the gym he really wasnt prepared to fight a rough fight against Holyfield. I think Tyson was capable of beating Holyfield at that point who was faded and probably would have had a tougher time fighting a little better prepared Tyson over the course of a long fight but Holyfield did what he needed to do to make Tyson implode. I think Holyfield bullshiited himself a little in that fight because he knew Tyson was ready to explode from his butting and probably the reason he decided to continue after getting his ear bit off. At that point Tyson was a frothing mad man and couldnt contain himself. Tommy Brooks got him back to having a gameplan and breaking his opponents down. I think they put him in over his head against Botha on the comeback fight and Tyson almost fell apart again from frustration but somehow Brooks helped him keep it together. He looked good against Francis, not rushed and looked to be countering his opponents shots, stepping around and landing some good punches. He never really got back to being a combination puncher but his skills did improve going into the fight with Norris, and then Golota. He was obviously wild against Savarese but he landed a big shot off the top of his head very early that Lou never recovered from. Overall I think his fight with Golota was his best performance against a good opponent who hung in there for a couple rounds.
Even if Tyson had lived the life of a monk outside the ring and kept up the most spartan of training regimes,I can still visualise his prime having gone by '97. Fighters of that style tend to burn out comparatively quickly. He'd obviously maintain it for longer than he did do (1986-88) maybe 1986 - 92 ?
Post Tysons best PERFORMANCE IMO, was against holyfield in the first fight. Bruno was a decent win as was Golota (who 'beat' Bowe who beat Holyfield) Wasnt Tyson record post prison something like 11 wins 6 losses (ill need to check that up)
If he did keep it together with what was in front of him he probably would have had a record that would be pretty tough to beat. Tyson had a lot of fights in four years imagine another 7 uninterrupted.
