People always make a big deal about the size of the current crop of heavyweights. In another thread someone said Klitschko would beat Ali. Let's settle this right now. Ali-6'3", 220-225lbs, 80" reach. Ali strengths: -Better Jab (not stronger, better.) -Better Footwork -Better Stamina -Better Chin -More Heart -Never been counted out in a fight. Weaknesses: Not a 1 punch knockout fighter. Wlad-6'6", 245lbs, 81" reach Wlad strengths: -Harder puncher. -3" Height advantage. -1" Reach advantage -20-25lb weight advantage. -Stiffer jab. Weaknesses: Frequently knocked down. Stamina issues in the past. Hasn't avenged all of his losses.
I picked Ali by UD. Hell Brewster is 6' 1" and he beat Klit so why can't Ali at 6' 3" beat Klit. :good
Muhammad Ali UD12 Wladimir Klitschko Anything later than the Ali from the Foreman fight and Wladimir wins.
So before your prime you get knocked out 3 times? That makes no sense whatsoever. Klitschko was in his prime THE FIRST TIME he fought Chris Byrd and has declined since. Just watch him box and his isn't nearly as offensive or fluid as he used to be.
Ali isn't Chris Byrd. Ali had WAY more power in his punches and way better foot movement and defense than Byrd did.
You have a very incomplete grasp of the sport. Like many on here, you put way too much emphasis on size. A good BIG man beats a good LITTLE man, true. What that means though, is that all else being equal, size will determine the outcome. In the case under discussion, all else is NOT equal. Ali's athleticism and skill level were vastly superior to what Wlad has shown so far. Ali KO'd Foreman, a much more durable character than Wlad. He KO'd Frazier, whos ability to take punishment exceeded Wlad's. He KO'd Liston, a wily character with a good jab, who just couldn't land on him and gave up. Wlad would have great difficulty catching prime Ali with anything meaningful. Smaller, fatser guys did too. Ali would get inside Wlad's head and win the fight before it got started. Watch Ali's best performances in his prime (Liston 1, Terrell, Williams etc.) and watch his movement, both hand and foot, both offensive and defensive. Then watch Wlad's best performances (Byrd 2, Brock, Brewster 2). Notice the movement difference? Ali 1964-67 KO's Wlad. He could probably pick the round. Ali 1971-75 beats Wlad convincingly, probably by UD. Post 1975, Wlad wins, if it matters. (BTW, I'm a fan of both Klitschkos. Wlad is the best heavywt since Lennox and far above the rest of the current crop. He is still improving and may surpass Lennox for a spot in the top five all time (doubtful). I believe he might possibly crack the top 10 list. But Ali practised a completely different sport.)
Klitschko would be utterly drained by round 13 without a doubt in my mind. These modern heavies can't do 15 rounds.
Foreman was undefeated, usually KO'd his victim in the first two rounds and was scarier than Tyson in his time. Ali was a serious underdog, to all but the cogniscenti. And yet Ali KO'd him! Frazier (Post Manila pressconference): Lordy, he's a grat champion. I hit him with shots that would bring down the walls of a city. (And Smokin' Joe didn't care much for Ali !) Who said Ali had power? In the words of Richard Pryor: "He knocked muthha-****kas OUT ! "
Make an appointment with Dr. Wallis. He's good. http://www.yelp.com/biz/x0McIHwTb0SNy_gEMAWQqw He can help you !
I don't think that Ali could beat Wlad! Maybe prime Ali! However i don't give a sh*t! None can prove who would have won!
