I'm running a little project, in which I try to rank the heavies based on performance. A bit like it think the Alphabet organisation should run their rankings. It's a ladder system, so you can only climb by beating someone ahead of you, by doing that you jump into to position above him. Right now it looks like ****, I started this a little bit over a year ago and then took the ratings from boxrec, wich explains some of the names on the list. I guess this list needs five years or more to become accurate. 170805 A Joshua (Takes the number one by beating Klitschko while Furys officially retired) A Povetkin (No change) D Wilder (No change) K Pulev (No change) L Ortiz (No change) C Martin (He is here because of boxrec) M Scott (He is also here courtesy of boxrec) C Hammer (Beat Teper who earlier was ranked 10 but due to Wlad and Fury retiering reenters the list) M Wach (See above) E Teper (See above) This list clearly lack Parker for instance, but on the other hand the list is not supposed to rate people of potential but factual performance so give it some time.
Seems to me that the consensus top 6 are AJ, Povetkin, Parker, Ortiz, Wilder and Pulev with AJ at the top and the rest more or less ad lib.
Povetkin is the #2 guy for me but he won't get a fight from anybody. Deonkey loses urine at the mention of his name and Joshua is tied up with Pulev and Ortiz. No good for a guy of 38. Miller is the best U.S prospect. East Europeans we're going to have to wait for Sirenko and Hrgovic. I defo see these dudes as threats to Joshua in a couple of years.
Povetkin definitely #2 for me too, but as it stands, he's pretty much peaked and his career is over. He's at an age where the other top guys can easily dance around him for 2-3 years until he's done for. And that's what they will all do. Love to see him against Wilder / AJ / Parker.
I think he'll eventually face AJ. AJ wants to get all the big money fights he can, and be known world wide and fight across the world. I could see him facing Povetkin in Russia in a couple years, once he's run out of other big money fights.
I see this happening. Joshua's team stated that he's looking at Pulev, Ortiz, Wilder. In that order. We know Wilder won't fight anyone in the meantime. Parker will end up fighting Povetkin in big money Match in 2018.
1. Joshua 2. Ortiz 3. Wilder 4. Povetkin ( on egg shells guy really needs to fight a few without being suspended, really shouldnt be ranked ) 5. Parker 6. Pulev 7. Haye ( considering he needs to show something still) 8. Whyte 9. Breazeale 10. Miller
Haye probably beats him but have to give benefit of doubt to Pulev since hes more active.Haye needs another top win.Pulev probably retire after the Joshua fight so thats an open slot soon.
You're right, i don't know how much Haye still has left, his fight against Bellew in which he fought with one leg is not enough to remove him from the top 10 in my opinion, i had Haye at 4 before this fight and dropped him down 2 places but i can't write him off because of one bad performance.
You dont take a top 5 guy arguably off on one loss and to injury..its stupid, particularly when his only real loss at Hw was to klitchko,Haye was a better fighter than pulev and he has to be on the top ten? Makes no sense really. Its like ppl still ranking guys who havent fought in two years or guys with no relevant win thats been boxing over a decade..you can see who those posters are...lol
