I feel like it's because all 3 judges gave it to GGG.
For a fight this close at least one of them should have scored it for SD.

    Yeah. That's a good assessment, I think.

i could see the fight being a draw or either man winning by a round or two.

The other thing that I thought happened in the fight was that Derev seriously picked up his intensity and pace once the cut happened. He fought desperate, and then he figured out that such a full-out style was effective.

I doubt he fights like that unless he got cut.

So that changed the outlook of the fight. GGG kind of let off the gas after the cut and targeted it for several more rounds, and Derev went into overdrive after the cut and found something that worked.

    Really a fascinating bout.

Yes, when fighter wins by very close margin (but winning 7 rounds clearly) and gets close 115-113 scored on all three cards it looks like a great decision. But when you have 4-5 swing rounds that could have gone either way in a very close fight overall, then SD would be a more suitable result.

Derevyancheko said after the fight he planned to work from the distance more but saw that GGG was effective there so he needed to change his gameplan and took thefight closer to GGG.

Heck of an adjustment! Shows you how special he is.

Also, for GGG to be able to do this kind of thing -- with his style -- at age 37 against some talented opponents shows just how talented he is, and always has been.

    I had 115-112 SD

But many close rds and the KD early on was a 3 pt swing where he went from having a 10-9 round his way to being down 10-8.. One observation about SD is he’s prone to getting clipped early and not being assertive enough in the championship rds.. His fights with Jacobs and GGG were very similar and it’s something he needs to work on in the future to win those type of decisions..

Great fight I want a rematch..

115-112 Golovkin. Some very close rounds, GGG got hit like never before, still finished up strong like a true champion. Derevyanchenko allowed golovkin to reset too many times in the fight and would take brakes after landing nice combos. That cost him the fight. He is missing that little something that champions like Golovkin and Canelo possess. I feel gutted for him, after being very close twice but that's what happens when you don't take advantages.
