I want a good fight. Since that seems unlikely I want Roy to pronounce Rigondeaux with an outrageous French accent.
Kellerman just said Donaire was the best fighter he's ever seen that has campaigned mostly below Featherweight. Max needs to start watching more fights from before 1990 if he wants to go around saying things like that.
That was just remarkable. Damn near picture perfect show from Rigo. McGrain was talking a few days ago about how impressive it is that Whitaker outgeneraled and outclassed Ramirez in just his 16th pro fight, and that was genuinely amazing, but Rigondeaux just pretty much outclassed a considerably better fighter - in his prime - and did so in his 12th pro fight! That defense, the punch placement, the movement and generalship, the poise - my God. He got caught by a really well placed shot while a bit off balance that put him on his butt, but he was up on his feet in no time and didn't seem hurt at all. That aside, he was pretty much flawless tonight. Brilliant, brilliant performance. The best I've seen in a while. What beautiful technique he has.
Seeing some people have it scored fairly close, as the judges did. I just didn't see that at all. Rigo was boss in every round, even the one in which he got dropped. Nonito was pressing but he was being made to follow, not something he should get points for. He wasn't terribly busy with his hands either and Rigo was landing sharper, cleaner shots in every round as I recall, and his punches were plenty hard. Seemed to hurt Donaire with a bodyshot fairly early and messed up the right side of Donaire's face in the last round.
