Took me a bit too long to figure out but Ive come to realize that p4p lists are pretty much huge wastes of time and are almost entirely bull****. Practically meaningless after the first couple names.

The idea of p4p is real, but the rankings are almost always based on contrived illusions, meaningless speculations, irrelevant wins, hollow hype, and trying to come to conclusions by comparing apples to oranges.

Draw with Chavez? But then you must have given him a win vs Pacquaio?

JMM struggle with Alvarado, did you not see that fight?

Stevenson was FOTY last year and is lineal 175 champ.

I admit Inoue should probably be above the likes of Walters maybe I'm trying to avoid a knee jerk reaction to his recent win.

Walters is so high here because he has possibly most claim to being top dog at 126 which is one of if not the best division atm.

Loma is hard to evaluate but with a close loss to Salido and wins vs raw Russell Jr and two fringe contenders, it's tough to know where to put him. He is way up there in terms of talent and potential and will rise as he shows this talent hopefully in the next year or two.

Crawford will probably rise higher but beating a pretty shot Ricky Burns, inactive/small Gamboa and solid but not elite Beltran doesn't get top 10 status yet.

Cotto I agree is beatable but he did beat P4P at the time (although crocked) Martinez and is proven at world level.
The two Garcia's are tricky ones. Danny probably s****ed in the top 10 after his win over Matthysse but looked poor vs Herrera. Mickey as you say is hurt by inactivity.

Hope I don't seem ignorant in my response just trying to give some reasoning to my picks (thinking out loud as it were)

Yeah probably true. But I like to use it a) as a bit of fun b) as a way to think aboutfighters strengths and weaknesses more and to increase my knowledge where possible.

:good I hear ya man. I wasn't trying to **** on the thread by any means....

just for the thread Ill say that the fighters I would list as the best in the world (which seems to be what p4p means to most people these days) are.... imo (based on how dominant they are against guys their own size, how they would do against guys bigger than them, and current resume)

    In no order within grouping

    Mayweather
    Pac
    Ward
    Rigo
    --------
    Bradley
    Wlad

haven't seen Inoue or gonzalez so cant rate them, hear they are awesome though.

Practically every other fighter on someones list simply wouldn't really belong imo, and it becomes a trivial, pointless affair to try and rank them, based on my previous post. But to contribute to the thread those are the names that stand out to me right now in terms of all around proven best fighters.

donaire was p4p #3 and fighter of the year when rigo faced him and embaressed him for 11 rounds. sheer dominance! ? so why cant you address how this equals "d and c level fighters?". mares and LSC want absolutely nothing of him, he has good wins in agbeko (a guy that should have gotten the win against mares the first time given the sheer ammount of blatent lowblows that got unpunished the fight still went down on a razor thin decision) again another dominant win.

now post your top 10 and stop trolling

Ok I don't think Inoue should be that high the kid is a monster and I'm certain he will climb further but for now he is just outside of top 10 IMAO. Bradley had such a **** year I almost want to take him further down. I think that Canelo deserves a top 10 spot Trout and Lara are great wins at the time albeit very close. Rigo is banking on one big win against Donaire he should add something significant or I will move him down. Gonzales, Wlad and Pac are really close IMAO you can switch there places if you wish. Ward is out due to inactivity.

I'll post a list a little later on but how can people have Loma in a top 10 with a record of 3-1 (should be 4-0 but still).

It shows that you know at least 10 fighters from different divisions and that you follow a bit the sport which is not bad. A part from that it is completely subjective and often used by the media to hype fighters. Ring lost all credibility in their p4p ranking when they put Broner in top 6 after his win over DeMarco.
