Very surprised. I thought Kovalev was a clear winner. I thought the scores sounded too close when they were announced and then shocked that it was announced to Ward
I knew it was a close and competitive bout that could have gone either way. When Ward got the nod, it struck me that he had persevered and overcome adversity after being hurt and dropped early by the lethal punching Krusher. It was an outstanding exhibit of adaptability and versatility in Ward's performance.
When the final bell rung, I tallied up my scorecard and announced to my brother, "It have it 117-110 Kovalev, but just you watch them give Ward at least a draw if not the win." My brother say's, "no way!" I say, "may I remind you of Marquez-Pacquiao 3 with these Vegas judges.......... Then when they announced Ward the winner, I busted out laughing only because an injustice in the sport of boxing is something that I've come to expect. Its a popularity contest in all honesty and we boxing fans all know it.
