Yeah, it was far from clear cut, I certainly don't have much of a problem with someone giving it to Loma. But Loma wasn't all that active, neither were accurate, and Haney a least tried to outwork him.
Lomachenko did poorly in the 12, imo. Haney landed a few good punches to the body. I was disappointed by Lomachenko's lack of body punching. He is the shorter guy he should have battered Haney's mid section.
Loma looked the winner to me, though I wasn't really scoring just kept a sort-of general estimate in my head the whole time. It was close but Loma was clearly the winner imo. Haney's focus on the body was a brilliant bit of strategy & shows they watched the Loma-Ortiz fight carefully. Not to blow my own horn (even though I can ), I remember commenting on that fight on here and stated that Loma was noticeably slower getting out to either side after throwing his punches. Whoever picked up on it in Haney's camp should be given a raise lol. No way Haney would've 'won' without that body attack.
In certain rounds where Lomachenko spend time on the outside moving side-to-side Haney's right hand got the judges attention. Those rights were impossible to miss.
1: Haney 10-9 2: Haney 10-9 3: Haney 10-9 4: Haney 10-9 5: Haney 10-9 6: Haney 10-9 7: Loma 10-9 8: Loma 10-9 9: Loma. 10-9 10: Loma 10-9 11: Loma 10-9 12: Even 115-114 Haney (6-5-1) It was a close competitive fight which I feel Haney edged. No robbery like many are clamouring. Loma needed to win the 12th round & with extra point to win the fight on my scorecard.
