Usyk is an incredible fighter and I was maybe more impressed with Joshua than I have ever been. He came in great shape, did not gas out, showed huge heart in shaking off being hurt in the fight and he was able to change the momentum of the fight away from Usyk several times when Usyk was on a roll. Top-flight affair.
1 Usyk 2 Usyk 3 Usyk 4 Usyk 5 Joshua 6 Joshua 7 Usyk 8 Joshua 9 Usyk 10 Usyk 11 Usyk 12 Usyk 9-3 Usyk Usyk DOMINATED him. if you was being harsh you could almost call it a mismatch.. The difference in an ELITE fighter and a very good fighter was evident.
Just one other note from the fight -- when I was watching the bout, I thought "if Usyk is doing this well early, Joshua is really in trouble" since Usyk usually starts slowly. Credit to Joshua, he was able to turn the momentum somewhat back to himself (I thought) in the middle rounds. He stood his ground, he tried, he had some success. Respect to him. A lesser fighter would have just folded up after the early hardships.
I kept a mental note during the fight, I had it along the lines of 10-2 Usyk, maybe 9-3 Usyk if you stretch the round Joshua arguably stole.
Completely agree. I had it closer, but yeah. Here's my card joshua vs usyk 1) 09 - 10 2) 10 - 09 19 - 19 3) 09 - 10 28 - 29 4) 10 - 09 38 - 38 5) 10 - 09 48 - 47 6) 10 - 09 58 - 56 7) 09 - 10 67 - 66 8) 10 - 09 77 - 75 9) 09 - 10 86 - 85 10) 09 - 10 95 - 95 11) 09 - 10 104 - 105 12) 09 - 10 113 - 115 Usyk 115 UD AJ 113 couple of the early rounds were close and could have gone to Usyk so I have np with 117 - 111 or something
No way in hell AJ wins the 11th. That was clear Usyk round BY HUGE margin, it was BIG round for Usyk. 117-111 sounds good. Anything lesser and there is bias in the scorecards. I got it 9-3 or 10-2 for Usyk by the first watch.
I put "thought AJ stole it" because I thought Usyk won the round, but I thought AJ did enough to convince the judges he won the round. I don't recall the exact reason I thought that, but it's what crossed my mind at the time. That is, I agree Usyk should be awarded the round but I thought AJ posed enough that the judges would give it to him. Something like that.
The round was a big one for Usyk. You cannot somehow steal the round with a 1 good shot, when the opponent laid on you big time. I'm rewatching the fight right now, and so far the round i give to Jushua is the 5,6 and the 8. And i'm on the 8.
