Postol Took Matthysse's Soul

Matthysse has gradually been on the decline in every fight since Garcia. It hasn't helped that he's been fighting other big punchers straight after fighting Garcia.... whereas Garcia has been receiving gifts being outboxed by lesser punchers

Postol deserves credit... but the matthysse he beat was already a broken man.... a broken machine ready for the trash heap.

Matthysse said in the post fight conferance.... he was scared of going blind permanantly.... he wasn't hurt by the punch.... and it was the headbutt (accidental clash of heads) in the 6th or 7th that really hurt his eye and affected him.... he doesn't know why.

 

Matthysse is a case of "the body is willing but the mind is not". Years of disappointments and though fights have worn him out. Maybe he never had any real passion for boxing(Maidana is from the same cloth).

 

i have not been overly impressed with matthyse since the garcia loss so im kind of thinking garcia took it if anything.

 

if someone took something from someone in the garcia fight was definitely matthysse.Garcia hasnt been the same since that fight and you can see that just by watching his fights and the caliber of his opponents.I think his eye was his concern more than the title and if he keeps thinking like that his best option is to retire because he will be hit in the eye always.

 

All Matthysse did was lose to a guy that fought the right fight. He fought tall and tied him up when he got in. That is what he was supposed do. No soul was taken or none of that BS. He simply lost to a man with the best plan. Lucas will be back and I still would like to see him fight Pac. That would be a different fight. Postal has a date with the Young Master. Then you will really witness the taking of a soul.

 

Matthysse was matched tough routinely, and still managed a good amount of world level success.

Last night, he ran into a big, skilled pure boxer without the mileage that put it on him. It's been a good career for Lucas, but it's probably time he steps back for awhile to heal and reassess things.

 

The eyes are the windows to the soul, so Postol's forehead shattered the soul panes.

 

And why should he get the Pacquiao fight?

He's never been world champion, he hasn't had a meaningful win in 2 years and he consistently loses as soon as he steps up. :blood:huh:huh

He's also a B level fighter at the best and if yesterday doesn't tell you that, I don't know what to say.

There are LEVELS to this game and Matthysse clearly is a middle-tier fighter and would probably get canned by most decent 140 lb fighters today, never mind decent 147 lb fighters.

 

That headbutt to his eye and the later punch just made him quit didn't want to risk his sight imo.

And lets stop pretending Postol is skilled he's everything that is wrong with boxing why are we allowing this eastern european guys to HOLD the entire fight.

 

I agree with this that Garcia fight was brutal for both and neither have looked the same since

 

Agreed, Matthysse & Gift are both mid level guys who would lose to the top. Gift lost to Herrera, Peterson and went life and death with Matthysse. If he doesn't have his personal ref Weeks, will he be allowed to score illegal knockdowns, low blow all night, and spit his mouth piece out while hurt to get time to recover? These are all interesting questions. What'd do ya think? :think

Fairly officiated rematch between these two midcarders would be nice.

 

I never said he " should " get it. I said that I would like to see it. How you feel about Matthysse Is your prerogative and if I choose to disagree then that's my prerogative. I disagree.

 

Well it would be a decent action fight but Matthysse would get blown out of the ring. Not a fight to really get excited about, matthysse is a b level fighter at best. So many better fights to be made. Matthysse is a waste of time for pacquiao. That's all
