Why is that funny? I agree actually. When was the last time you've seen GGG dodge consecutive punches or consistently not get hit during a round like Canelo has shown he can do? Usually he tries to parry them or duck under them but he gets hit flush quite often actually, I can't say the same about Canelo getting hit flush very often. Maybe against Lara in the early stages, and against Floyd, but these guys are amongst the most accurate punchers in the sport (Floyd being the best, Lara being like top 10 somewhere). In fact, in GGG's last fight his KO came directly as a result of punching a hair of a second after being punched absolutely flush with a right hand counter.

I'm a fan of Canelo's but he couldn't stop an old shot Mosley, Matthew Hatton, didn't hurt Floyd, dropped but didn't severly hurt Trout. Didn't hurt the punching bag named Angulo. And couldn't drop Lara. His power is overrated and would be even less effective at MW.
The way GGG cuts off the ring, and walks his opponents down Canelo, would be pinned on the ropes the majority of the fight and be beaten into submission much like Stevens was. Canelo's power would have no effect on GGG.

I understand the perception of Canelo can change drastically based on how you view Canelo-Trout/Lara if you think he lost to both you rate him low if you think he beat both you rate him high I thought he beat both. Plus Canelo has the big fight experience advantage, one of the only guys at MW or below I'd pick to beat GGG.

Nowhere in my post did I say Canelo would beat GGG, i said I agree in terms of his opinion based on Canelo's skills and defense. GGG beats everyone from 154-160 as far as I can tell, that isn't named FMJ, and even him it's a numbers game in that fight bc he's just so small.

I thought he beat Lara and had a draw with Trout, I'm a fan of his and an occasional detractor of GGG, but power and skillwise Canelo doesn't hold a candle to GGG.

Power wise hell no, but skill wise, that's debatable. GGG's best attributes are his jab, ability to control distance, punch placement, and his ability to cut a ring. Canelo's are his jab, punch combination variety, punch selection, accuracy, and counterpunching ability. Canelo is one of the only guys I think can hang with GGG and make it a fight right now. That's still not to say he wins though.

Canelo may last longer than most, I'll give you that, 9th round TKO for GGG.

Might be about right, but lets not overrate GGG also. We haven't really seen him in with a guy who's skilled AND not afraid to fight him. I wonder what happens against a guy who can take his punch and is also skilled enough to win rounds and possibly hurt him back. He could be in trouble.

I started the thread "GGG fans need to stop Overhyping ", I get what your saying but I think the only ones who can hurt him are at SMW.

Gotta cosign this Golovkin def has the power edge and footwork but I'd give Canelo the edge in all around skill the things in guys like Lara/Trout game that gave Canelo problems GGG doesn't do styles make fights and GGG's style is better suited for Canelo. I can see Canelo taking out Cotto/GGG next year it all comes down to how Alvarez's chin holds up.

Geale only had a "weak chin" vs GGG. While I generally have no issues with Martinez chin, I dont think there is evidence to say his chin is significantly better than Geales.

I think Chavez punching power is a tad over rated due to his size. Did he not also only almost get Martinez because by that time in the fight his leg/hand had blown out?

Most of the times Sergio went down it was bad balance, and he did get caught by Julio, after he starting to wear down, but Williams Pavlik and Richard Willaims were all decent punchers, and nothing ever troubled him.
I'm obviously a fan of Geale and he has a decent chin, but he never fought too many big punchers either before fighting GGG, that's why I gave him a decent chance to win, his chin was the unknown variable.

Chavez' power is slightly overrated but I think his constant pressure and lack of power by Geale to keep him off, he would get to him late, and stop him maybe even with a body shot. Chavez has improved, there was more fluidity to his movement during the Vera fights, he doesn't have to set up his punches as much now, a lesson he learned by fighting Sergio.

Yeah balance - I attributed to leg. Chavez did improve for second Vera fight.

I just see his most notable KO as Andy Lee.. which doesnt really impress me. He went two fights with Vera who was KOed by Rosado. Format, coming back down in weight, damage accumulation may have all played small parts but still. Rosado was able to do in 12 minutes what JR couldnt do in 72 minutes.

When you think about it, its hard to make a case that Jr hits appreciably harder than most of the guys Geale fought. Jr's KO record came from guys who pretty much any world level guy would be expected to KO. Even Geale got his KO versus the Garth Woods of the world, and Wood is actually better than most of the guys Jr KOed.

Still, I see your point. It would be an interesting fight.
