Potential Froch v AJ beef

The King Charles Martin wants a rematch I heard.

Froch eats AJ's lunch and makes him cry in a P4P comparison.

Punch resistance is but one of a number of strengths he possesses. If Carl were nought but the human heavybag characterization peddled by his detractors, Kessler would have met the contemporaneous expectations of most fans and decapitated him in 2010, given that a.) Mikkel was a precise puncher who threw beautiful combinations when he had a sitting target, b.) even the best chin will only take so much hammering before it gives out. As it happened, Froch could defend.

Dirrell fought like a clown. Froch's jab is highly overlooked by the guys who swear blind that he lost their fight. Dirrell showed flashes of class, but couldn't put it together consistently, was contrary to a self-defeating extent (suggesting that he knew bad things would happen to him if he were a little bolder), gave up entirely too much real estate and was ultimately hustled out of enough rounds to give Froch a perfectly valid case for retaining his title with a draw or sneaking a close win.

Losing convincingly to Andre Ward is no shame at all. I should add that SOG was more uncomfortable in those later rounds than I've ever seen him — aside from in that one bout, I do not recall him ever looking up at a clock to see how much time remained in a round.

 

Nigel Benn has the best wins, shocking the world against Barkley and McClellan. Dudes today, like the Charlo lads, are nowhere near that ****ing frightening.

Well, he's a professional boxer who feels slighted by his non-appearance on a list he is eligible for.

Folks on a boxing forum are likely to dismiss it as a crap list made by whoever currently covers boxing for a tabloid rag. (Colin Fart?)

 

I think Froch probably deserves to be a little above AJ at the moment, on a "pound for pound" list (which are always a bit silly), but he was never a really great fighter and his achievements are not much more than AJ's really.
AJ is probably 1 or 2 good wins behind him, at worst.

I'd like to see the list just to see it.
Haye at #4 has been mentioned. That seems ridiculous.
I'm guessing 1, 2 and 3 are Lewis, Calzaghe .... and Hatton ?

I'd have Lewis above Calzaghe. As technically good as Joe was, Lewis beat a much higher standard of opponent.

Calzaghe: 46 fights. Best wins: Kessler, Lacy, Hopkins, Eubank, Reid. After that maybe Mitchell, Woodhall and Bika?

Lewis: 44 fights. Best wins: Holyfield, Tyson, Klitschko, Ruddock, Tua, Mason, Bruno, Golota, Morrison, Rahman, Briggs, Grant.

Lennox just totally cleaned out a division. He was in so many fights which were considered fairly close beforehand and now we look at them as foregone conclusions. Calzaghe was in some fights like that but nowhere near enough. Lennox always looked like a guy who wanted to fight the best.
