Doesn't this upcoming weekend feel like the first potential great boxing weekend in quite a while? FNF: JC Burgos vs Cristobal Cruz ShoBox: Jesse Vargas and Deandre Latimore against some sub-par opposition Epix: Huck vs Povetkin HBO: Maidaina vs Alexander and Perez vs Broner Not all those fights have me pumped for action, but I know at least one has to be a barn burner...right!? They could spell disasters (snoozers), but I am excited for the first time in months for a good filled boxing weekend.
Don't forget Broner too. Really we're about to get a good streak of weekends with boxing matches.Next weekend will be a little dead, but then March and April is all filled
I didn't forget Broner. I think he will lose against Perez though. Perez is a smarter boxer IMO than Broner. All Broner has is athleticism and power. I think Perez' attributes will overpower Broner's natural skill set.
Cleverly v Karpency could be an unexpectely good fight, a tough test for Cleverly. have a hunch Karpency has been underrated by most as he's of most people's radar.
The four fights I'm interested in: Huck-Povetkin Gerber-Mazikin Shafikov-McAllister Cleverly-Karpency
Cant wait for this weekend.... but unfortunately my mates are going to watch the UFC - Edgar vs Henderson while i will be just down the road from them watching Maidana vs Alexander.
Really nice weekend ahead for boxing fans. This is the lull of the sports calendar that boxing should take advantage of: NFL is over, baseball hasn't started, and March Madness is over a month away.
Not really interested in the cleverly fight because Karpency, IMO won't give him a tough fight. I hope I am wrong though.
