Last night in Puerto Rico I saw one of the greatest action fights I ever saw when Orlando Solido kod the game Juan Lopez in the 10th rd....A thriller from start to finish...But folks boxing is dying not so much as the modern fighters lack of boxing experience, compared to the oldtimers I saw years before....But the horrendous judging again last night when the three "judges", had the power outpunched 2 to 1 local favorite Juan Lopez ahead in the scorecards...Outrageous scoring from the"THREE BLIND MICE ",
who had the Puerto Rican fighter well on his way to an underserved victory
against the Mexican Warrior Orlando Solido...This sick scoring is the 2nd time this potential robbery from 3 "judges" has occured...Except for a flash knockdown by Lopez, he was taking a power whipping from Solido, as tough a warrior that I ever saw...Now altogether let us sing " three blind mice".
Even the 3 announcers on Showtime were shocked at this travesty...
    What say you ESB ?

Carlos Zarate got the same home cooking from the referee against Wilfredo Gomez down in San Juan. (Gomez should have been DQ'ed)

imagine, you go to all the effort of paying the judges and then your man gets ko'd. or do you withhold their bribe? i guess that they get paid whatever.

Burt, here's something you may like about Salido-Lopez II. Some bum wrote it, but Dempsey speaks in it.

S, great synopsis of the Solido/ Lopez fight last Sat. night in Puerto Rico...I love your great line when Lopez dropped Solido with a short crisp punch after taking a licking.."things were looking up for Lopez AND Solido " ! A couple of weeks ago the LH champ McCloud was given a "gift" by the
    inept or "worse" judges...
P.S. This Salido is a WARRIOR in the truest sense...

The best thing about this fight was Stonie's article.

They spent most of the first five rounds missing each other despite the fact that they don't have great defences and as Stonehands rightly pointed out, Lopez spent most of the supposed round of the year falling in with his punches, exhausted. A good beat-em-up type fight but no Ward-Gatti. I enjoyed it, but couldn't believe the fuss on the forum.

Possibly most of the fuss was caused by the fact that Salido was an underdog in the whole forum, everyone was expecting kind of a war but with Lopez winning....I think.....:think

I thought it a good fight from Salido's perspective, from a strategy standpoint, but McGrain is right in that there was no real drama, no momentum swings after Lopez's hook dropped Salido.

All Salido had to do in round 9 was calm down, take a step back, measure Lopez, and blast him. Lopez had his shades pulled down in the 8th. No one was home, and that activity we saw afterwards was just shadows on the wall.

Hell, the original title of that essay was "Semiconscious in San Juan."

It's funny, because even though I gave Lopez three rounds (1, 4, and 5) there was a sense from the opening bell that things weren't going to go his way. The look of distress that appeared in his eyes the moment when Salido's first right hand connected was an indication of that.

Still, those last two rounds were pretty breath-taking. JuanMa's decision to stand still, remain in the trenches, and match his stronger foe punch for punch made for great viewing, and along with everything else made this one of the most...fun...fights I've watched in a very long time.
