What Other Venues In Las Vegas Should Be Explored For Use In A Mega Fight?

I Know The Top Dog Is MGM Grand Or Mandalay Bay & In Some Cases the thomas mack center i believe..

How Come "Sam Boyd" Stadium has never been considered for usage? I was just looking up the capacity and it can seat 37,000 which is 20,000 more than Mgm Grand (MGM Grand Seats 17,000) & 25,000 more than Mandalay Bay (Mandalay Bay Seats 12,000)

Sam Boyd Arena is located 20 Minutes From The Las Vegas Strip which isnt bad at all... if you were creating an event im sure hotel's would allow a valet bus service for transportation from the arena to their casino's

    http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&source=hp&q=las%20vegas%20strip&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wl

I was thinking about this for a potential Floyd Mayweather Vs Manny Pacman matchup

financially i'm not sure how it would work though because I know when the fights are at mgm grand tickets range from 150 - 1000 for the highest quality of an event

im sure in an arena it would allow for more flexibility ticket wise because there is so much room you could charge 50 for the top deck and allow more people to buy tickets, 100 for the blue section,500 for the green section, then for the on the field tickets you could price 750-1500 and ring side could be like 2000 per ticket and it would probably sell out

you could arrange some type of transportation system between the hotels & venue because im sure 1000's of people would fly in for such an event....

promotions would be crazy too.... you could have blimps that fly over the arena, they already have a jumbo tron in there and if you really wanted to get tricky they could put up a high definition projector, you could have jet's fly over the arena just like football games, fireworks shoot out of the arena just like wwf fights.... the limitations are endless really

anyways I'm bored before i leave for the day... what do you guys think of this idea?

why is it a terrible idea though? you have to think outside of the box sometimes

sam boyd sits more (more than mgm & Mandalay combined) = more money
sam boyd is close to the strip so its not inconvenient

how the **** is **** like this a bad idea when ali was fighting in Africa and the Philippines and **** like that and those were huge successes

i just googled it and really couldnt find any thing

I live in vegas and I goto unlv football games at Sam Boyd and I have to say it would be good for fights. However the facility needs to be renovated because the place is very very dated. Just one small example is that the parking is still a dirt lot.

The seating is decent. The seats are hard and small. The jumbotron is terribly old. I almost never even look at it. For a megafight is would need some major renovations and I don't think there will be enough time or money to have it done by the time pacman and money potentially square off. You have to understand that it is a unlv football stadium first and unlv is hurting hard financially right now.

They could put up a screen & use a HD projector.... Would be way cheaper then actually doing real renovations.... the seating would be fine really because the event would be so hype that nobody would give a **** about that... plus it would be a one time thing only.. or atleast 1 time until the next super fight if it works well..

if unlv is struggling for money it would be worth it to let them use the venue..... if floyd vs oscar made upwards of 150 million.. a floyd vs pacman fight could easily make 200 million+ dollars.. especially if floyd beats jmm & pacman beats cotto

good stuff Walk. I've always said we need that PBF-Pac fight at SamBoyd. just to let you know they put in more seats, now it fits 42,000!!! I truley think that fight can sell out and you could really put some cheap tickets there. hopefully it gets done because thats a great stadium and I love it there.

    NEXT SATURDAY THE JOURNEY BEGINS....

yeah i'm not from LV so id ont really know **** about sam boyd but i was bored and thinking about it....

I mean not only the 42,000 but you gotta imagine they would be able to atleast put a couple 1000 seats on the field so it would really be seating anywhere from 42,000 to like 50,000 or possibly a little bit less than 50k

there would be so much range for ticket prices... 50 for top deck and like 1-2 g's for ring side... it would have to sell out

I say if Pac win's/lose against Cotto in Nov. & should he decide to fight again...
He deserves & earned a right to put on a major show in the P.I.'s.
    (similar to Chavez Vs. Haugen)

    Would PBF be game?

i would expect to see a fight in space before i see floyd vs pac in the phillipines

i suppose dodger stadium would work but if you have it in vegas its more of an event because things can happen throughout the weekend.... which is more traditional to boxing...

LA is cool but it closes down at 2 which is ass
