Pound-for-Pound, Manny Pacquiao is the greatest fighter since Pernell Whitaker.

Since the decline of Sweet Pea and Chavez, there have been four stand-out fighters.

In a pound-for-pound sense, I would now rank them thus:

    1.Manny Pacquiao
    2.Roy Jones Jr
    3.Bernard Hopkins
    4.Floyd Mayweather Jr
(though I'd say that Hopkins and Mayweather are pretty much interchangeable at 3 and 4, I give a slight edge to B-Hop on resume, but I wouldn't have any argument with anyone who had Floyd over Bernard)

Last night has convinced me that Pacquiao nows deserves to rank above Roy Jones.

Pacquiao now has the best resume of the four, indisputably IMO.

And he has the best weight-jumping achievements of the four IMO.

And since he had a close fight with a peak Marquez, he has improved dramatically with the guidance of Freddie Roach. His footwork is now much better, meaning his defence is much better, and last night he proved beyond doubt that his power and his ability to take a punch are of the very highest level.

Any votes and comments welcome :good

Nope. Still Roy Jones jr. Manny has nobody on his resume close to the level of Toney or Hopkins.

    If he beats Floyd maybe.

fantastic performance last night. cant quite believe how much he has improved in a 2 year period. his punch resistence was brilliant and he is making progress on his defence. if im being picky he had a 2 round spell i think about 7 and 8 where he was stationary on the ropes a bit too long but apart from that flawless. i agree with your list apart from maybe floyd above bernard.

Hopkins and Toney have better resumes, they simply accomplished more, which means Roy accomplished more by beating them. Are you still hungover kid?

Pac's top of those four, and also well ahead of JCC. I'd still rank Sweetpea ahead of him at the moment, but a big win over Mayweather/Mosley puts him ahead.

No. Whitaker to RJJ to Pac is how the torch is passed. Also, B-Hop has a better resume than Pac. Just sayin'.

Sorry to burst your bubble amigo, but Bernard Hopkins had only ever been 12 rounds once before he fought Roy Jones. He was green as hell. There's no way in hell that win is anywhere even close to the same level as a win over a prime Barrera or a prime Marquez.

Also, Erik Morales and Marco Antonio Barrera's resumes are as good as Bernard Hopkins and James Toney's resumes. All four are of a comparable quality level.

But, more importantly, Pacquiao's resume is better than Jones's.

Nah. I'm a big B-Hop fan (obviously), but Pac has the better resume.
