He was certainly one of the best ever but the 2 Sugar Ray`s were better overall fighters IMO.... Ali, Pep & Duran too, maybe more but no doubt Roy in his prime was brilliant.
Probably me aswell, but you have to admit he gives everyone trouble at 168. No one would beat RJJ with ease.
Meh. I think he would do a job on Monzon who is an "elite" puncher. And I mean do a job, as in hardly lose a round.
I think he has a good chance v Charles actually...Jones could break up rhthym fighters without losing one speck of his own rythym...then again, Charles is such a compact combination puncher, so who knows? The longer the fight the better Charles's chances. I pick Jones over 10 but worry for him over 15. Maybe 12 is the place the chances get split. Moore would do him too.
:roflatsch Foster Patterson Spinks Moore Charles Moorer and many more would not only beat Roy at 175 they would knock his Glass Jaw out.
How many fights did Jones have at 160? 25? I'm not picking anybody that inexperienced to shut out Monzon, no way. Additionally, I don't consider him an elite puncher, not in the way Foster or Benn was, for example.
I wouldn't favor Jones over Monzon, not over 15. Then again, I don't even consider Monzon an elite puncher, just an elite overall fighter.
for get about weight class we are talking same weight u could even put rjj vs willie pep weight class are nothing in this i am talking about if they were the same weight at there best weights RJJ beats any most of the time
Yeah. And I don't mean any elite fighter who could punch, either, I mean huge-hitting monsters who could dent great chins never mind less-than-great chins. Some of these guys wouldn't even have to hit him clean to send him to ***** street. 12 rounds is a long time. 15 rounds is even longer. I think.
Fair enough. I just don't see Monzon having the speed or timing to do Roy. :huh Foster yeah would likley KO Roy from what I have seen. But Benn would get beat up and stopped early by Roy, it would be brutal and onesided.
