I know he was hit in his prime. It has nothing to do with the fighter I am talking about and everything to do with the poster I am talking to.

Pep would be too slick for him, Leonard would be too tough & complete for him, Ali would show him all about swift feet & control him with the jab & Robinson would plain whip his ass - all in same weight & absolute primes.

    :good

    dont talk ****

respect the greatest of all time.

roy had the fastest hands and footwork.

the bigger the puncher roy would be more careful. and would not get hit much

If Roy Jones could be hit in his prime what would happen to him if he was hit in his prime by a massive puncher?

Roy arguably had the fastest hands but Ali had the fastest footwork.
Fastest doesnt always equal best anyway, guys like Leonard & Pep had BETTER footwork than Jones who was ALL about the athleticism, those guys had better footwork in boxing terms.

    No, he would not.

He was not as skilled as Pernell Whitaker, not as strong all-round as Sugar Ray Leonard, and never achieved as much as guys like Roberto Duran and Ezzard Charles.

From '94 till '96, the supermiddleweight version of Jones was in my eyes one of the greatest boxers ever h2h. I don't believe anyone who ever fought around that weight could beat him (except maybe Charles, but I doubt it). Roy's insane physical abilities just set him apart.

But best fighter ever? No. Top 20 maybe, not close to being the best. His resume just doesn't make that feasible at all.

p4p Hearns catches him with a right hand and its over. Basically a fighter fast enough to catch him and has enough pop to KO him.

    1. McCallum never shared a ring with Ray
    2. McCallum & Jones were friends
    3. Roy is quite a bit bigger than Ray

If roy retired after his fight with john ruiz there would never even be talks about his chin and he would remain such an impressive record.

roy jones had the fastest hands in boxing history. now that is at 168lbs if you take p4p and put him in lower weight class like 130 - 135 can u imagine how fast roy jones would have been.

    frightening

What do you think would happen if a massive puncher hit Roy Jones?

nothing before he moved up in weight there was no problem
griffen hit him with big big shots in the first fight over and over again. remember this is when roy had just moved up in weight. ( second fight at light heavy)

griffen might not have the one shot power but he caught roy over and over again. another fighter would have been stopped cause he caught roy with some big shots. some of the shots were as hard as when tarver was catching roy

So if Bob Foster catches Jones with "flush shots over and over again", you think what will happen is - "nothing"?
