its subjective and impossible to get right. it has no meaning anymore, it was created for ray robinson. its like asking, whats the best car in the world. totally meaningless.
I agree. The **** that people come up with to hype or downgrade a fighter based on p4p rankings is absurd.
you can call it someting else if you like, people will always wanna make a list of who they think are the best fighters in the world. I ask someone, who is the best fighter in the world? He answers Pacquiao. Well you don't have to call it pound for pound, but we all know thats what it is.
Very well said. I dont understand what people have against p4p rankings. It gives glamour to lower division fighters instead of the current boring HW's and helps identify who really is the best fighter in the world. Pretty sure Sam Peter would beat Pacquiao but we know who the better fighter is...as they say, p4p!
For the most part, p4p lists are ridiculous but the topic is not. Therefore the list aint going any where. i think to keep the topic alive but take the sillyness out of it, people should list 10 fighters but ignore the order in which people put them in. Therefore you get an elite group but without having ppv's sold as for the pound for pound title...
Yes, it is a joke. Pound for Pound, Wlad is one of a handful of fighter who beats everyone in front of them in their respective division...yet he is never ranked even in the Top 20.
I don't see why it's absurd. People like knowing who the best fighter on the planet is, in their own opinion. Sometimes those guys have records of beating other top athletes to back up a claim. If you have a Best, you must have a second best, and third best, and fourth best, and so on. What's the big deal?
WAAAAY ahead of you! But thanks for giving me a reason to bump this classic: :good http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=30198 :happy
