Im in there too. Its hard to explain p4p, but you just know it when ya see it. Like when Mayweather was around, or when Roy was prime, those guys were the definition of p4p.
:good People are talking like P4P ratings are the only ratings that are completely relative to the person viewing/writing them. All ratings are going to vary, some are going to be ridiculous, others accurate, but as long as you have basic knowledge its pretty easy to separate them.
p4p is a matter of opinion, but some opinions are worth more than others, and things like resume, skills, strength, power, etc. are just arguments to back up those opinions about which fighter is better than who. its here to stay. before they invented the term pound for pound for sugar ray robinson, you still had the concept of p4p, with guys like Henry Armstrong, and many more.
Yep. And like I said, there could be a time in the sport where you dont even have 1 true pound 4 pound fighter. Ppl gotta stick to the original definition of p4p. But saying Pavlik & Margarito are p4p fighters is ridiculous. Watch in the next few weeks ppl are gonna start saying Arthur Abrahm is a p4p fighter
Agreed, that's ridiculous indeed. Saying one is a good fighter is one thing, but saying one's p4p is another. Christ I've seen some posts where people put Darchinyan in the top 10. :yikes
P4P is for fun @ the pubs, nothing more nothing less. Almost everyone compares a little mans skills to a big man, as if the little mans skills would remain the same if he magically transformed into a heavyweight. Usually it's not considered if the big man shrunk. Noone knows how good Ali would have been if he was a middle weight. Imagine his speed and reflexes actually improving if he was smaller. Compare Ali's early speed and skills to the average heavyweight and the difference was arguably greater than the advantages SRR had over the competition.
To be honest a lot of the time little guys get underrated. The middle weights (meaning around 160, not specifically the MW division) seem to get the most hype in P4P lists. Guys like Pavlik getting put up into 4,5,6 territory by most people after a couple of good wins.
