Pound for Pound SHOULD BE ABOLISHED!

    This is why i said there should be two lists. P4P in the original sense and a most succesful list.

    I agree in the original sense of pound for pound Pavlik and Margo wouldn't be very high. You could name loads of fighters more skilled than these two that could out box them if they were the same weight but resume wise they are much better fighters than their skill level suggests.

    every sport epscially if it's an individual sport will have some sort of ranking..

    TENNIS, GOLF,....

    It wasn't.

    The term may have been more popularized because of Sugar Ray Robinson, but the term wasn't invented for him.

    Other fighters before him such as Bob Fitzsimmons and Tony Canzoneri were called the best pound-for-pound before Ray Robinson came along.

    Historic speaking, the media was claiming Fitz pound for pound way before Robinson started boxing.

    You're correct. I just read an article on the net where it says Canzoneri was labeled p4p before Robinson even turned pro. :good

    But Robinson should be the reason for the term being created, if you ask me. He was THAT good.
