'The Modern Gladiators of Mixed Martial Arts..'

Would never pick a book with such childish title.

This. If MMA wants to be taken more seriously as a legitimate sport it needs to ditch the 'macho' image and the Pro Wrestling undertones that have been made popular by the UFC. There's no way id pick up a book with a title like that either.

I'm sure the book could be very good, I'm just saying that if I seen that book sitting in a shop there is no way I'd buy it.

The sport is taken more seriously due in large part to The UFC. From fight cards across the World, to the talent from every corner of this planet, and the talent in every weight class are all reasons why the sport is as good as ever. Their countdown shows are class, and the glimpse they give into fighter's lives on these Fox cards are great too. On that opening episode of the TUF last week we got to see family and friends in the crowd supporting their loved ones. The truth is these men are modern day Gladiators.

When I see or hear the word Gladiator my thoughts are of Great arenas and competitors in Ancient Rome. Not The UFC's opening theme. I think some of you have hangups when it comes to the organization as you sound out of touch. If I come across a book about the sport that I love I'm going to open it up and click on the links provided. Beouche is right.

    Valid point

The guy's trying to promote his book here though. Negative critiques after the book's been done and dusted are gonna do him no good. He's put a ton of effort into this. I think its pretty sad that the best some of you can offer is to sneer at his title :conf

    Profound :yikes

But I do agree. At times you need to read some exerts before writing off a book because the title is corny or the cover has a crappy picture on it.

I will very probably buy a copy of Thracian / Brian's book.
