Jones has reinvented himself since his losses. Do you expect Calzaghe to steam roll him? This isn't the case when one fighter has beaten the other full stop. You think Johnson should be in over him automoatically too? And Johnson over Tarver?
Of course, but Williams lost at middle-level. Oscar lost at the absolutley highest level. Calzaghe at two and Cotto at 3 is fair enough, but again, even if you agree with the judges in the Pacquiao fight (I don't), how can that single point represent enough room for two fighters to squeeze n between them?
Same question. How do you think he will fare with the p4p #3? Writing off Jones is a bit like writing off God in this sport, in my view.
He will fair badly, I'm sure. He's like a sitting duck for Calzaghe who will likely implement a swarming style against the old man. When he covers up in that peek-a-boo style, Calzaghe is going to be on him like a rash, and its not going to look pretty in the later rounds when hes gassed. A stoppage is on the cards. Roy Jones only has 30 seconds a round to discourage Calzaghe, if recent evidence is anything to go by.
No Chris John despite him beating the number 2 on that list? Apart from that it's a pretty good list considering everyone will have their opinions.
I'm getting a weird feeling of deja vu... People said almost exactly the same thing about Hopkins and that one was close but clear for Calzaghe. This one will be the same. Jones is a true veteran now. A veteran who has improved technically and fallen off athletically. We both know Jones isn't the 25th best fighter in the world on resume. But he is a living legend and ALL TIME top 25, pound for pound. That counts for something here, and yes, that is valid.
the decision was indeed very questionable, but even before the loss he wasnt ranked #2 pacquiao was. calzaghe was 3rd i think JMM was somethin like #7.
Yeah, Chris John is supposed to be on there at #11. I don't know what happened. I orignally was doing 20,something got lost in the translation. I'll fix it.
I don't see the comparison to be honest. I don't see Jones circling Calzaghe's jab and rendering it completely ineffective. I don't see him as being defensively cute or awkward, Trinidad tagged him an awful lot early on. I don't see him clinching as much and disrupting Calzaghe's rhythm. The only thing similar is that Jones will be looking to land short right hand counters, but from a defensive viewpoint Calzaghe should have a lot more success with Jones
got too agree with you, there can be no comparison between jones and hopkins really, jones can make calzaghe look good IMO
Yes actually, I think thats about right. I've got to account for perhaps Jones only saving grace at the moment, his handspeed, and Calzaghe's defensive flaw to the straight right. Could nick him a couple of early rounds. Once Calzaghe adapts a little, and Jones starts to get tired, he'll sweep the rest.
