Povetkin another 4 pounds lighter than his last fight, lightest since 2010. Stiverne 10 pounds heavier then he faced Wilder and Arreola. Thoughts?
Ill be impressed if it ends up that the heavier Stirverne is the busier on the night. I have seen much of Stirverne other than his fight with Wilder. Ive seen little from Povetkin as well but Povetkins style I like. Povetkin to win.
He's also inactive, at a bad weight and was dumped pretty good by Derric Rossy in his last fight. Pov has looked like an absolute animal as of late. Whatever he has to thank for the late career resurgence, it certainly worked.
Anything over 240lbs is too heavy for Stiverne, but he's lighter than the Rossy fight and only a 1lbs heavier than the first Arreola fight where he looked OK. But he isn't in against Arreola, Povetkin is far better and not going to gas like Arreola did. I gave Stiverne the chance of the upset if he came in shape but now his chances are very slim, he'll need a lucky punch early if he isn't to be chewed up and spit out. It blows my mind so many heavies can't get themselves into something approaching peak physical shape. Many decent 80's heavies were ruined by drug addiction this era has been ravaged by obesity.
Lol That's not gonna work too good. Some fighters aren't good to try the rope a dope against... Povetkin is one of them.
He'll try, he won't have the engine to box and move for any prolonged period. He'll likely sit back and wait for Povetkin to come to him and try and catch him on the inside with either his compact left hook or with the right hand on the way in or out. It's going to be a painful night for Stiverne but this is his only likely option for a victory. He won't win a decision as I doubt he can work enough to win enough rounds and any close rounds will go to the home fighter. An early half KO is his best bet.
