The Lewis-Tyson fight was meaningless and using that fight to help your argument is pointless. Wlad has no chance because he doesn't have the chin to deal with Tyson connecting punches with him.. which would happen. It's not as simple as just tying up Tyson and jabbing him to death for 12 rounds. It's part of it, but having the chin to take some shots occasionally is essential. Give Wlad the chin of Ali and then we've got a matchup.. unfortunately for Wlad it's impossible.

All he said is that the WBO, WBC, or WBA called him up and said that if he beats Byrd, he will move up in their rankings too. I'm not sure why they would call him and say something that obvious, but it doesn't mean that he's getting a title shot in their organizations and not the IBF.

I knew Povetkin was too good to be true. Oh well- 20 lbs of fat and 75% of the stamina later, and Povetkin gets starched in the 8th round against Wlad. :patsch

If Povetkin was a cruiserweight going up to heavyweight, like Haye or Holyfield, I could understand such an idea. However, Povetkin's problem is not that he's too small: it's that he has too much blubber on him. Getting more muscle is fine, provided that he's cutting fat off as well and is staying at more or less the same weight.

Povetkin's best edge in the modern division is his workrate, which requires a lot of stamina. He should try to accentuate this, because it's in this field that the big behemoths of the division are physically handicapped. Even the best conditioned giants, like Wlad, have suspect stamina. A 6"5 230 lb plus man is physically ******ed from having the stamina that a 6" 210 lb man can have; I'm amazed that it's taken so long for someone like Povetkin to emerge.

Playing the game of the sub-super heavyweights (ambling around in a robotic fashion, jabbing and looking for a big single shot) will not serve Povetkin; it'll only ruin his chance at greatness.

    Are you nuts? Hater?

You are nuts. Go ahead and search my posts. Not too many of them are here. Look at page 3 of my posts for example. Then apologize.

I hope that's true, Alex v Wlad would probably still happen, but it'll probably give Povetkin the extra year or so he needs imo to take on Wlad.

Sorry about that. I am a tool for not even looking you up before saying that. I usually do before I talk ****, but I didn't in this situation because it's a Povetkin thread and I got excited to reply fast. Plus, the title made it seem like you were the guy I thought you were.. the anti-Russian boxers guy with a strange sounding name who predicted he would get dominated by Donald and needs to get in shape. I just looked at those threads and saw that you were one of the few guys who thought Povetkin could beat Wlad. I also checked out your profile and saw that picture of Alexander Karelin, so clearly you are no anti-Russian. Sorry again for that ******ed mistake.

I got the jist of that but I don't Povetkin simply thinks he is weak. More accurately, he thinks he could be stronger. Povetkin has pretty much backed all his opponents up or stood his ground so it has not been exposed that he is weak. Given the mammoth he will face in Wlad some strength and power work ain't a bad idea.

Yeah, Tucker, Holmes did a good job keeping him at bay.
Tyson would rip his head off.

Tyson was not just a single punch. The man had an iron chin, superb speed, excellent head movement that got him on the inside quick as a flash, and above all a killer instinct.

As highly as I think of Wlad, a prime Tyson would get to him within four rounds.

Actually, I think excelled against taller fighters with a good jab.

They put their wheels on and ran from Tyson. It's likely that you're making your observation based on the fact that his KO percentage was lower against those types of fighters.

If you can though, name one fighter aside from Lewis that fits your description that beat Tyson.

Tyson developed his style for the sole purpose of beating TALLER FIGHERS.

It's why he bobbed and weaved, and ducked, and hooked.

He really didn't say it that straight. Reporter asked him what he thinks about champions of the past, he said it's hard to tell because boxing is different now, more pragmatic (?), and that for example Wlad may tight young Tayson, not let him box and win.

Yeah, because the last time Wlad fought a pressure fighter that could do anything it was Peter.

We know how that turned out, yet how skilled is Peter again?

Peter and Tyson are in COMPLETELY DIFFERENT LEAGUES.

Peter would have to get off the bus and go home.

To call Peter a poor man's Tyson is disrespecting.. Peter is more like an extremely poor version of Ray Mercer for christ sake.. :dead

If Povetkin could break through 4 feet of iron with his fists he'd still say he's too weak.

It's sign of obssesion. Wanting to be the best. He's got that edge that will make him Champion :good

I think what Povetkin meant to say was that his previous training was mostly cardio training and now he wants to add some explosive strength training.

Klitschko vs prime Tyson; If it's the Klitschko who knows how to clinch and if he could force Tyson to back up, then it's a pick 'em type fight. Any version of Klitschko before now most likely ends up with Tyson flatweeding Klitschko.
