Pov would outpoint Morrison after an early scare to win the 90s wbo unrecognised unwanted title, equivalent back then to that reg title he won, but Tua would knock his block off and Mercer he would lose to on points.

Indeed. Unfortunately beating those guys wouldn't have been enough to have a claim to be the actual man though.

Could he claim to have a chance against Holyfield or Lewis?

Prime Povetkin against Evander would have been helluva fight!
I think he easily smokes Tua and Morrison and has a tough one against Mercer

I would only give him Morrison. But they all would be really great fights I think.

Povetkin would have a decent chance against any of those guys. He’s got the skill, power, and durability to be a top player in that era. And any era for that matter.

Too durable for Morrison, he might have the odd scare but eventually he overwhelms Morrison and knocks him out.

Mercer would be tougher but Mercer was never in great shape, his work rate is poor and Povetkin likely out works him to win a competitive decision.

Tua is a real hard fight. It would be a war. I'd favour Povetkin over the Tua that fought Lewis but the one that fought Ibeabuchi was far more active, I think that Tua is too much. Not many can stand toe to toe with that Tua and expect to come out on top, I don't even think Ike won that fight.

He KOs Morrison no question, likely out points Mercer who was easy to outbox or outwork, with Tua I guess it depends on his approach. I think Povetkin has more overall boxing ability and smarts than Tua, and should be able to out point him.

Would Povektin beat Holyfield and Lewis. Likely not, would love to have seen those fights though. I would say Evander has a much harder time with him, and gets the nod in a hard fought decision. Lewis vs Povetkin is likely similar to Wlad vs Povetkin, with Lewis using his body weight to clinch and wrestle him when he gets inside, likely similar to the first Lewis/Holyfield fight.

all this based on him.... stopping ... Maneul Charr as his best performance.

no hes not got the edge here. He will lose more than win.

But he would do better as an amateur, he was just as good or better than these guys in the amateur ranks.

Not any of the above names, but the4 guy I think beats Povetkin is Brewster. He keeps that power throughout the fight & Povetkin definitely gets hit. Not exactly elusive. It very well might be 7-2 on the scorecards, but I think that big sizzling left hook lands.Brewster was a major league body punisher when he did bother to go to the body. I think his bodywork sets the table & I'm not convince Povetkin can absorb body punishment.

I always liked Brewster, his style wasn't built for consistency or longevity though.

No version of Povetkin after the Wlad fight should be considered in my opinion. So on the struggles before Klitschsko fight. I think he gets stopped against Tua, loses against Mercer by points decision and squeeks a decision against Morrison.

    no.
Lewis did deserve to be DQ'd against Holyfiled like Wlad did against Povetkin. The fights are nothing alike.

Lewis vs Povetkin looks like Lewis vs Rahman II OR Lewis vs Tua.. The Lewis jab and uppercut keeps Povetkin on the outside until his chin eventually gives out off a massive right hand detonator.
Lewis did not not need to bear hug his way to victory like WK did.

Out of all those guys Lewis gives him the most problems.

Maybe that's because Wlad's something special? Wlad was so good and much better than Povetkin.
I wonder when people finally understadt that Wlad is/was a special fighter, an ATG and most likely a top 10 heavyweight (top 5 in my book).
