Atlas is good for Potvetkin. Teddy's knowledge of boxing history, including the mgrs, trainers, promoters, etc, allowed for him to have certain respect for Sasha's dday, and Teddy, knowing how close Potvetkin was with his dad, drew the intensity out of his fighter using that closeness as a motivation.

Also, Teddy talked in that article about walking away.......could it be he's unhappy that Sauerland is giving Holyfield this title shot? After all, Teddy, being a historian of sorts, and a lover of the game, talked his former titlist Michael Moorer into retirement just after he beat Vassily Jirov for a minor title. And WHY? Becuz he thought Moorer was past it, and feared for his safety had he continued and fought a K2.

Perhaps he will boycott this Holyfield fight because he knows that Sasha will carry Holy through the fight w/o ever sitting on his punches unless Evander starts putting up a fight. It's likely that the russian mobsters involved with Sauerland will have the odds fixed to pay close to even for DEC/KO, and most will bank on the KO/TKO, and the Suaerland mafia can clean up at the windows with a decision win in Sasha's firs title defense.

 

Atlas is smart enough to know that Povetkin is not made for the big stage. That's why they will feed him geriatric bums that don't pose too much danger so Povetkin can earn himself a nestegg for his retirement.

Here is a little video of Atlas in the house, and Welliver and Povetkin sparrring. The main thing you should notice, is how great of shape Welliver is in. If you have seen the Solis fight, that is not who Welliver is. He is 50 pounds under that weight and a beast of a body snatcher.
