Povetkin has a good left hook. His left hook reminds a lot of Joe Frazier, Jack Dempsey and Floyd Patterson left hook. It starts from his toes and ends by his fists. When Povetkin lands that left hook to AJ's fragile mandible its good night.
He has a better chance than Parker. I don't think Parker had the power or the style to apply what power he did have. Povetkin is different he's a genuine puncher and has always been the one who cuts off the ring and takes into his opponents, he'll definitely pressure Joshua. I expect a far more entertaining fight than Joshua/Parker. But Joshua has to be favourite. He's bigger, stronger, has that uppercut which will likely be Povetkin's undoing. Joshua needs to box Povetkin, if he tries to trade with him he could be in trouble.
AJ`s guard is great at defending hooks because he holds his right hand high, he blocked six hooks while in bad trouble v Wlad, Pov does not bend forwards like Frazier who does this with great head movement to get inside and land his hook, the Dempsey roll got Jack in close to land his hook, Paterson used his peek a boo guard like Tyson which protected him and he was elusive enough tio get inside and land his hook which was way quicker than Pov`s, he doesn`t have the defensive skills to get by AJ`s reach and power.
Impossible with AJ's hand picked referee to offer the AJ protection plan anytime trouble is near. The referee will have to be even more protective then the one they selected for the Parker fight.
Alexander Povetkin is literally an undersized, dwarfed midget compared to Anthony Joshua who really looks like a different creature altogether compared to Povetkin as a huge, physical specimen with bulging muscles filling up his body. If Anthony Joshua not only fails to win, but fails to win extremely convincingly, brutally, disgustingly and gruesomely against this undersized irrelevant midget. Then Anthony Joshua will expose himself as a totally overrated fraud (especially relative to the hype he's been receiving lately). Thus, I expect Anthony Joshua to totally annihilate Povetkin with pretty much no difficulties whatsoever in a very short span of time. I don't expect Joshua to get hit by a single meaningful punch from Povetkin. Nor do I expect Joshua to even lose a round. I expect Joshua to land all the meaningful punches and defeat Povetkin as gruesomely, or even worse than how Povetkin defeated David Price. By breaking Povetkin's body parts, limbs, teeth and etc. Basically by inflicting long term damage on Povetkin's body. This fight really shouldn't last more than a single round with all the advantages Joshua holds over Povetkin!
I'm not so sure Povetkin makes a harder fight for Joshua than Parker. Parker has a better ring IQ and footwork than Povetkin. To add to this Povetkin self admits taller HWs give him problems...getting rocked into the corner by Price would reinforce that. Is this a better win for AJ? I'm not so sure about that now, I think in a head to head Povetkin MAY be better than Parker, but Povetkin style is all wrong for him against Joshua. He has one gear and one major flaw. That is he has no change up in his approach and is smaller than Parker and look at the difficulties he had reaching Joshua. Povetkin can beat Joshua? I don't see it.
I do think Povetkin is pound for pound, the more skilled boxer of the two. However, Anthony Joshua has a significant size advantage and that's what matters the most in the heavyweight division.
I reckon povetkin will knock him out But if he doesnt ive always got "hes old and small" excuses lined up
I been waiting for this for nearly two years ever since he got back from the suspension :.) I'm so proud of sasha . I wanted him to get a title shot before he retires. Go back on here you'll find forus where I'm talking about my favourite heavyweight I'm so happy
Better skills in what way? Joshua defense has him the least hit HW. Combo punching? I would say that's pretty even, its one of the things he does best on the inside. Jab? No comparison. Speed? Nope, Parker was out sped too and he's faster than anyone( well so they thought) . Footwork? Povetkin takes an L here too BC he stays in the pocket. Joshua's a master at range from inside or outside. Really I only give Povetkin a SLIGHT advantage in body punching and that's BC he is 6'2 or so and can get lower on an opponent. All around the board Joshua is better skilled. If this fight happens Povetkin would need a close range shot and that's where AJ is at his best on the inside as long as he's able to work.
Least AJ will fight him not like that other guy who ran like a scared little girl before even setting foot in Russia.. Sad day for boxing....
