How does everyone see this fight going? I haven't seen much of either fighter so I'm curious. I know everyone is kind of on the "Povetkin as the future of the Heavyweight division" bandwagon, but do you see Chambers giving him some trouble with his quickness? Also, has Eddie's chin really been tested in the past. I didn't see much of it in the Brock fight, but then again Brock isn't exactly Liston.
I think Chambers is very underrated, his handspeed is probably his best weapon, especially his jab which is not only fast, but powerful as well. I do feel however Povetkin is a more complete fighter, with more power and a better workrate. I see this fight being kinda boring at times, with not much action. Chambers will show the jab early, and try to work off the jab. I see Chambers winning the early rounds, but then giving up rounds later where Povetkin is the more active fighter. Chambers will go into defensive mode where he will stay for the rest of the fight after he gets hit with something big in the middle rounds. I see Povetkin winning by UD.
I have only seen each fighter once so I can't really make an educated prediction. But all this hype povetkin is getting has me interested and enthusiastic to see this go down.
Povetkin via stoppage in the middle rounds. Eddie actually has slower hands than Povetkin, and his footwork is terrible. He has some nice straight punches, but he lacks the power to hurt Alexander, and he has this tendency to overextend his right hand and bring his right foot forward in the process which leaves him very open to being countered and knocked down. That little flaw of his is something he repeats over and over and over again in fights, and Povetkin is smart enough to pick up on it. I expect Povetkin to work his body and time him to counter and hit his head. His footwork will see Chambers out of position, and eventually by the 6th round or so Chambers will be taken out.
Alcaldemb- Chambers definitely has more handspeed than Povetkin, anybody that seen both fighters fight should she see that instantly.
Povetkin TKO8 Chambers Chambers will get beat up. His jab can't keep Povetkin at bay and he doesn't have the power to make Povetkin respect him. The footspeed will trouble Chambers and he will be forced outside of his comfort zone into a fast-paced inside fight against a stronger guy with more fluid combinations. He's going to get beat up.
The only department Chambers has a slight advantage is speed, in any other department such as: workrate, power, combos, footwork and more he is outclassed. Moreover, Povetkin is one of the best amatuers in the history of the sport, and probably had faced boxers that are either as fast as Chambers or even faster. Most of us know the outcomes, they were all beaten.
Chambers is little more than a fat cruiserweight. Povetkin is gonna win this going away, if not stop him late.
Povetkin should take it. He has the right style, mindset and physical assets to give a guy as defensive as Chambers problems. One way Chambers could win this is by establishing a line in the sand. But to do that he'd have to hurt Povetkin somehow. I just don't see it happening.
I was rewatching Chambers-Guinn and simply cannot agree, his hands are no faster than Povetkin's. Where I will give him his due is that he is better with straight punches, that is out of necessity as he cannot work angles.
You cant tell me he doesnt have a faster jab than Povetkin? Chambers is probably one of the fastest punching Heavyweights since Chris Bryd was in his prime, Chambers jab is amazing.
I said he is better with straight punches, primarily the jab, but outside of that his arsenal is no faster, often slower. Especially his right, which he often throws while out of position and over extends his body putting him in a position to be countered.
