Povetkin far from done. Would TKO Wilder. Joshua 50/50

Whoever said Povetkin didn't look good or can't fight a big heavyweight doesn't understand his style.

While Price isn't great, Povetkin fought him at his best. Price put up a spirited effort in front of his home fans. The result was a KO of the year candidate for Povetkin.

But how can Povetkin fight a guy 6'6" to 6'8". I'll tell you how. Povektin has a good duck under and moves his feet forward while setting up a balanced punch to the body or the head. The body shot can double up to a hook to the head or left-right to the body. Povetkin also has the same move duck under lead move that features a hard right hook that lands on the face or head. Sometimes he throws a lead right hook, which is uncommon. No one in the division features a punch like this. It's the punch that stunned Price before the left took finished him off. Povetkin has some head movement, a good guard vs. hooks, and a high work rate. A long jab can get to him, but unlike say Parker, Povektin won't go off his best path to victory. Whoever fights him better be able to take body shots. If he lands that hook to the head, he's getting a knockdown or knock out.

Povetkin, even at age 38 still has a solid chin, decent speed, and most importantly the will to win and understanding and technique how to fight a taller or bigger man; I think Povetkin would TKO Wilder, and is 50/50 vs. Joshua.

And judging by neither man wanting anything to with Povektin in his mid 30's, I think we know why.

    He's dangerous. Really dangerous.

If I'm looking after Joshua, I blow smoke up Povetkin's backside & then don't fight him.

Miller next, then Wilder to complete unification, then Fury for the lineal championship & legacy.

Will be surprised if Povetkin gets a look in even if he's a mandatory.

Ok i am just going to say it, i think Wilder is scared of Eastern Euro's.

It's not his fault. I dont think he is scared of Brits or fellow country men, but those EE's, he just dont like. Probably stems from the Ams.

I dont blame him, im not a EE either and EEs scare me!!!

I think he's too small, he wouldn't get past Joshua's jab, if he did then he could be effective but its a big ask, same with Wilder, they are both too long for him.

Still dangerous but heaving in air very early in that fight.

Also, coincidentally, stopped taking drugs around that time.

    Also 38.

Joshua isn't Wlad. Re-read what I said, and you'll see how he could get past Joshua's jab to score. I'm still not sold on AJ's stamina when pressed. Parker didn't press him. Partly due to the ref, partly due to himself.

I don't think he looked tired at all. Just a breather. Plenty left in the 5th for sure.

Best off at 222-225, I think. 229 a little heavy. Povetkin isn't small. A better word would be compact. He has a 19" or greater neck, and a big chest. Only 6'2" tall, yes but he knows how to get into range and the right style to and experience to do it. Yes, maybe he's slowed down 10% due to age, but he's still got a lot left and has not been in many tough fights, despite his style which welcomes them.

If you think Joshua never took anything, I've got a bridge on the moon to sell you. Joshua fought a little dirty / rule bent ( A common thread vs. his best opponents), looked to have a hometown ref halting the action when he had a points lead. Joshua also had favorable judging, though he won it cleanly.

The big-time draws, can get away with " stuff " What is his opponent going to do, cry foul and risk his career payday? Most won't.

Povetkin wouldn't beat either. I think Povetkin even admitted he struggles against tall fighters. And in the Price fight you can see why. Price is unskilled and has no talent. And Povetkin still struggled at times against him. Imagine what Wilder or Joshua would do to Povetkin.

Povetkin is the perfect fight to give AJ a free pass for postponing the Wilder fight as he still has prime left and still poses a threat. . I hope that fight gets made next for Joshua. And in an ideal world Wilder will fight Whyte in the summer , but Hearn will definitely want to PPV that fight so can't see how it will work unless Whyte goes out Stateside

He was heaving the air in Mendoza. **** wanted an air bag. That was not a long fight.

Still he did get hit and hurt.

As for this idea that Joshua is a drugs cheat and Povetkin would be allowed to take drugs or a big fight, I'll say that Povetkin was caught and Joshua wasn't and leave it at that.

I think this bout is going to be a disgusting / gruesome mismatch against this brave little Russian warrior who won't know what he'll get himself into. Just the sheer physical strength and power will be way too much for Sasha to handle. I'm not sure if Povetkin survives even a round against Joshua. This is like a fight between rabbit vs a dinosaur inside a Colosseum. An utterly disgusting mismatch which nobody should ever condone. Especially if they promote fighter safety.

My retort, Price can punch. Povetkin recovered quickly in the 4th, didn't he? That's what a good chin and recuperation powers can do for a fighter. Re-watch the fight, and show me where you think he was gassed. I'll check it again.

Povetkin has been a pro since 2004. It took him a long time to test wrong, and he has his side to the story. Joshua was rocked up, apparently on something.
