Only thing that would surprise me about that scenario is Povetkin taking the step aside, he isn't getting any younger. But I believe Hearn would love it if it played out like this.

He wants Joshua to fight in the US to build the Wilder fight as that's the real big money earner. Wilder himself is guaranteed to fight Breazeale next as the $50 mill offer is for a fight in the Autumn/Winter. Both could easily fit in a fight in the summer even if they agree terms to fight.

Joshua to vacate the title is more likely than Povetkin to accept step aside money...

I like Baby Miller but he is not as good as Pov. If Hearn pays Pov step aside cash to fight him it would be lame.

Povetkin would be a fool to step aside for Joshua. If he does Hearn will find a way to weasel Povetkin out of his title shot title shot after Joshua runs over Miller. Hearn did the same thing to Ortiz, who was dumb enough to step aside for Joshua to fight Wlad. I bet Hearn is still laughing out how easily he played Ortiz, since he never had any intention of letting Joshua fight Ortiz.

Povetkin takes the step aside money he’ll never become champ. It will be Aj vs Miller in a mismatch. Than vs Wilder. Then likely a rematch.
Povetkin will be 50 and shot before these guys face him plus if the step aside money is a lot- and I bet it will be- that will crush Povetkin’s motivation at this stage hard to stay hungry at 38 if you’re picking up several million and not having to fight for it.
Hope he declines but we’ll see

It would be disappointing if pov took the step aside, it's now or never for him. Joshua-Miller just isn't anywhere close to as intriguing of a fight.

No way. He's too old to take step-aside money. At this point Povetkin wants a big fight (with a big paycheck) to retire comfortably afterwards.

I would consider Breazeale to be his first real test, assuming DB hasn't eroded too much. Breazeale is a tough guy with decent power. This would be a good one. This would show me something.

Aj left it all in the ring against wlad

As over the hill as povetkin is, him beating Joshua really wouldn't surprise me....he's literally the last elite holdover from the K2 era and is technically much more sound and skilled with literally decades of experience

People wanna say he has no chance these days because glass cannon price caught him.....it happens....but the good thing about it for sasha is that it rarely happens to him

I don't think that Povetkin will take a step-aside money, considering his age. He is probably past his prime already. WBC screw him big time in order to protect Wilder.
