Not yet but considering vada have to follow wada protocol and that's what the wbc also follow it is only a matter of time and if povetkin isn't cleared by a wbc decision the wbc will be sued into oblivion because they will have broken their own rules

Did you ever get round to giving meldonium a try yourself?

Just curious. We were chatting about getting some to 'test' a while back. I think it was you anyway.

    Good post :good

I think that VADA hadn't done enough research on Meldonium before the ban, to be honest. The manufacturer Grintek said that it takes "many months" for all traces to disappear. IIRC Povetkin's side put forth the case that the Meldonium has concentrated in the fat cells and as they burnt away it was released into the bloodstream. It's plausible. 0,07 micrograms is really vanishingly small.

I just want to see Wilder / Povetkin.

I think that if Wilder fights Povetkin the Russians should drop the lawsuit.

No, what I have said is correct. By your own ****ysis, the switch has been made from the burden of proof being on Povetkin, to the burden of proof being on some new, hypothetical evidence against him.

By the the way, that evidence is not coming. He passed tests before and after. He will be fine.

Your post amounts to the fact that he is free unless caught again.

"...unless there is other evidence indicating use of meldonium on or after 1 January 2016."

Let' just bottom line this: he is free and clear.

There you nail down one of the biggest problems imo: Wada won't give a statement like that. I am sure it's policy and I can understand why they won't (to not seem not trustworthy).
The tests that they use should be trustworthy (if positive). On the other hand they use the tests without knowing much, if anything at all, about the metabolism. There just istn't time or money to know everything so they make educated guesses. In the case of meldonium they thought or guessed that it stays in the body for a week. But since meldonium was so widely used there were loads of positive cases where athletes had actually stopped using it (and not just one or a handful as for less common substances) long before a week. And now this has to be studyied and thresults are only due in september. So the current 1 microgram limit and the 1st of october time limit are just more (educated) guesses. Because the data is not in yet.
