Povetkin has terrible skills. His life may be in jeopardy against Klitschko.

you don't win olympic gold with terrible skills.
anyway povetkin is the best possible fight except haye.
undefeated mandatory challenger, olympic gold medalist,it's gonna be a great win for wlad, especially if he knocks him out

Did Audley Harrison win the Gold Medal?

    Is he not ****?

    There is your answer.

The amateurs are not the pros.

Klitschko, Ali, Frazier, Foreman, great champions.

    Harrison, Solis, Povetkin....pretenders.

I guess either Teddy Atlas thinks Povetkin is ready, or else they've put the mandatory opportunity off for so long, they are now forced into taking it, or lose the opportunity.

I agree, Povetkin will be hamburger within four rounds.......but, boxing fans love blood and swelling, and vicious KOs. POvetkin is a big boy who knows what he's getting into..................

    So........................BRING IT ON! :good

Bloody hell this board is just laughable at times. Pov is a very good boxer, and will have a go at wlad something most have not done in ages. Yes he will get cut up, but so ****ing what ?, if he keeps away and trys to do nothing, there would be a ton of threads saying hes a ***** and a coward, for ****s sake he just cant win with some people. Hes easily the best guy left for wlad (bar haye), pray ****ing tell me who else is there ?, haye does not want to fight it seems, so do you want him to fight monte barrett or someone like that ?, or a guy who will try his hardest and may well surprise people.

One minute people are saying wlad has no chin, the next he cant be beat by any one. Im a fan of him and pov, and think if he gets stuck in then he may well throw wlad of complelty, remember against chambers he looked poor at times, and it took manny having a bit of a go at him to shake him up Thats because for me hes winning to easy, as no one is having a go at him. And maybe just maybe hes getting a bit bored in there.

I bet you pov has a go, and even if hes Koed in 4 or 5 like some are saying (and it could happen), say those few rounds are a blast out, with pov FORCING wlad to have to bang him out early, im sure most will agree that would be exciting no ?

Also if povs so ****, how come some of the guys on here banging on and on about it, dont get in the ring themselves and make a fortune ?, as seemingly the HW division is shite and its easy to get into the top 10 or 5

Povetkin is deceptive. As BigCat once mentioned on here.

You see him on replays and think he's easy to hit and slow, but once in the ring it's a different story.

He makes tiny adjustments during the fight to his head movement and guard. And he learns his distance quickly against the opponent.

Keep in mind Chambers spoiled, so too did Sykes. It's easier for a 6'7" boxer to take apart a Chambers who is being extremely defensive than it is for a 6'2" boxer of the same size as Chambers and Sykes. Povetkin still handily beat both of them.

Wladimir is favored and rightfully so, but Povetkin is going to be a harder fight than Ibragimov or Chagaev for what should be obvious reasons now. Hunger, extensive amateur experience, style and gameplan. No comparisons to Harrison please. Harrison would have drawn with Sykes and dropped a UD to Chambers. Povetkin is of a better caliber.

Everyone knows what Wladimir is weak to which is an opponent that can get to him consistently and ward off his punishment. Povetkin is far more capable of doing that than some of Wladimir's recent opposition, including Sam Peter and Lamon Brewster.

The irony is the author blaming Povetkin for a lack of skills and then naming Haye who really, as far as boxing skills go, really isn't much at all. Haye uses his physical traits (power, feet and reflexes) to get through fights.

Povetkin is a gold medalist, he is a good boxer. Wlad is just all wrong for him, but Povetkin's good.

People continue to brag about needing movement to beat Wlad, but in truth, a fighter like Povetkin, one to bring the pressure and to have endurance, with amplified power and preferably bigger, that's the type of fighter to trouble Wlad. Not some mover who'll fall at first glance. Wlad is too fast on his feet and hands to really be troubled by movement. One would need to get in and do damage without... thinking about what ifs.

It's funny how many people think Povetkin has great skills.

Povetkin is basically an undersized Margarito.

He has good heart, chin, little power, easy to hit, and has great stamina.

This post makes me wonder if you have even seen Povetkin fight???? Povetkin may not be the hardest fight for Wlad but he is skilled, quick, shown some pop, and has DONE MORE than David Haye especially at heavyweight.

Lets also keep facts straight it is Haye that has backed out of two fights with the Klitschkos not the other way around.

What about Povetkin makes you think he is skilled?

    Easy to hit? Check.

    Stands straight up? Check.

    Doesn't move his head? Check.

Doesn't bend at the waist? Check.

Stands right in front of you? Check.

Can't box on the outside? Check.

    Relatively undersized? Check.

    Squared up? Check.

    One punch power? NOPE

    On the bright side.

    Can take a beating? Check.

Throws a lot of punches? Check.

    Shitty opposition? Check.

There you go, the guy is the real deal.

Ge the **** outta here with that bull****.

Harrison won the medal yes... but 2000 didn't have the comp in the Olympics that 2004 did, he got lucky that he was inbetween the emergence of good super amateur hws and there was a void and he filled it. His amature record isn't **** compared to Povetkin. He fought Sim Sam and liakhovich as an amateur and got his ass kicked. Although I have to give him credit for beating Paolo when Paolo was good. Povetkin on the otherhand dominated the amateurs, and he had stiff competition, especially with his nemesis Cammarelle who won the 2008 gold medal. Its ridiculous to say that these 2 fighter are similar in background only an idiot with no boxing knowledge would say this. Povetkin is the best possible competitor that Wlad and possibly fight night now besides for this brother. Povetkin> Haye

    TRUE :good

those are the reasons why he DID ducked klitschko for over 3years now

I guess he just passed the line where he couldnt step back anymore

but these are the same reasons why haye is and will be ducking klitschkos

by the way I believe that povetkin may have better boxing skills than haye probably will find out when they both loose to klitschko :yep
