I do not know what anybody saw on saturday. Povetkin came in unprepared and was gasping for air after just 3 rounds without any punches from Huck. Shame on Povetkin, he had much less conditioning than a 240 pound fat James Toney against Hasim Rahman. Much less. As for Huck, he is just a very limited boxer. Any skilled counter puncher would knock him out within a few rounds. A skilled boxer could see his right hand coming from miles away. Huck does not even know hw to throw body punches, otherwise he would have stopped the Russian. It is a shame that a heayvweight champion can not beat a very limited boxer like Huck very convincingly.I am tired of this bull** division. Now here comes Has Been Rahman_Povetkin.Just Terrible Terrible... This fight took the heavyweight division to new lows.Even heavyweight like Bert Cooper, Tommy Morrison,Ray Mercer would have knock both of these fighters out. As for the decision, it was fair. Germans are just bad losers, they were bitching about the referee, the judges eyverything. No word of course regrading Huck's dirty boxing tactics.
I need to watch the fight again. I can't believe so many people thought Povetkin won, he looked like ****.
wtf ??! I thought it was a good scrap. Both men showed cheeen, heart and were throwing bombs through 12rd. Some of the best action in HW in ages? what fight were you watching blade?:scaredas::scaredas::scaredas::scaredas::scaredas::scaredas:
It was actually a very good fight! The threadstarter is one of those people who just NEED to ***** and whine. :-(
This fights how the division has dramatically slipped SKILLWISE over the last two decades. This fight was a joke SKILLWISE. Huck is a very limited fighter, he was clearly outboxed by Lebedev. He telephones his right hand, has technical flaws and very limited. Povetkin was a disgrace, huffin and puufin after 3 rounds. You would expect the heavyweight champion to come in prepared for a championship and take a bum like Huck to school Mercer, Morrison, Cooper... would have knocked Huch out in a few rounds.
This shows hiw much people understand about boxing. SKILLWISE this heavyweight championship fight was a disgrace. You got to realize that Huck is very limited skillwise, You would expect an experienced heavyweight contender to take Huck to school.
Exciting fight yes. But skillwise, this fight was very poor showing for a heavyweight champioship fight. Huck telephones his right hand, does not know how to throw body shots, chin often up in the air when throwing these wild shots. I mean you would expect an experienced heayvyweight champion to knock a guy like this out in a few rounds.
Povetkin is skilled and has some good defence. He lacks power yes but his skills surely are admirable. I might be wrong but he lost his coach and surely that was going to show somehow. Povetkin made me a fan last night,I think he's underrated as a boxer. As for Huck fighting in spurts will not get him anywhere. As you said the division is dead so it might take long before Huck is exposed
Agreed - entertaining brawl? yes absolutely. but Huck showed ZERO boxing skills with regards to technique and versatility. He displayed heart and courage and was reasonably condionned ok BUT I was shocked by his limited abilities, am I the only one noticing that the guy didn't throw a single body shot in the entire fight... Poorly trained Povetkin, a former amateur mega star, who can not ko a street fighter like Huck should just retire. Huck was so wide open during his left/right hook onslaughts that even a 49 year old Holyfield would stand a chance against him. The hw division is in shatters... at least for long time followers/purists like the Blade or myself.
If a modern heavyweight shows an efficient defensive style they are boring and robotic, if the go for it and throw lots of punches and attack to make an entertaining fight they have no technique, according to posters like blade
