This is actually on of the better HW fights that could b made. Povetkin isn't washed up far from it.

I've read that Povetkin was distressed when his father died, and there's reason to believe he hasn't been able to get back to his former level.

I also wonder if boxers like Povetkin with storied amateur careers are more likely to peak early as professionals and fade in their 30s.

This could actually be a very entertaining fight. Wlad should ref it... would be the cleanest, foul-free fight in history. Neither would dare risk the wrath of their daddy.

This fight is actually closer than most people think. To be honest at this point I haven't made up my mind yet. If the fight is made official and I can fallow both camps during training I can give a more educated opinion.
I know you're riding with your boy Haye though.:D

he beat an ancient byrd who started to lose more often than win
    1 decent win over chambers

last 6 fights against sub garbage.... yet ring rankings are #2 or #3 in world? doesnt say much for the state of the game

Povetkin's level of competition and activity have dropped off badly. That's a very bad sign for a supposed top level fighter. I was a fan after he won the IBF tournament and felt he would could give Wlad a lot of trouble in a losing effort like Peter did in 2005. Now, he gets dominated and KTFO.

His two bottle jobs and the some of the excuses he's come up with are truly pathetic.

The difference is Wlad has already beaten the best there was & Povetkin had been ducking him for years - it got to the stage where you just knew Povetkin wanted none of Wladimir even though he had been mandatory for so long.

You can always tell when there's a fix coming when a guy goes from being way out in the ranks jumps to number 2 or thereabouts.

Don't you think for one moment Povetkin knows that when Haye leaves boxing the Klits will 'scoop up' that remaining belt? He just sees more hope in Haye than anywhere else.

THIS version of Povetkin spanks Haye:

    The current version does not.

This...^ Povetkin had a lot of promise and over the last few years has become a bum. What happened to the guy?

This is a better fight than the Wlad v Chisora fight. I would be more interested in this match up.
