Need to see how Sasha performs against Stiverne first. Meldonium situation is one thing but 13 months lay off is a really long time for a 37 year old.
The one thing I never see mentioned about Povetkin vs Joshua, is they both fought the same opponent in the Olympic finals. Where Joshua struggled to what looked like a draw, Povetkin dominated the same opponent in a one sided bashing.
Joshua is overhyped his unofficial loses in Olympics will never go away because he will lose in pro ranks this time in official manner because of the limitations he showed in those 3 fights at the Olympics.
Povektin is the technically superior fighting but his style will have him getting pushed and muscled around by a much bigger man. Povektin rocks AJ a time or two but ultimately succumbs to a TKO loss. If Povektin comes into the ring in the best shape we've seen him he could make it a competitive 12 round bout.
This would be a great fight. I really hope we'll get to see at least some of these HW match ups. I think Joshua vs Povetkin would be 60-40 in favor of Joshua now, it depends on how patient Joshua would be and he would need to establish the jab early. From what I recall Povetkin hasn't fought a lot of really tall HWs other than Wach who isn't that skilled but just has an iron chin.
Povetkin's problem is that his style of fighting short doesn't work that well at HW in the era of modern super HWs. If you're the shorter fighter in weight classes with weight limit is usually means that you're packing much more muscle and you can usually bully the other fighter at close range, but at HW with no limit someone like Povetkin is lost against a large super HW like Klitschko who can just lean on him and has not only height but also weight advantage.
This. If Povetkin still has his reflexes I could see him catching Joshua, who has a bad habit of lunging in with his right hand with his chin in the air.
