As steve bunce said amwerican heavyweights are gutless, i dont know if it is true but if you go off sykes it certainly is.

How embarrassing to the usa, to have this disgrace fighting on an international bill. He didnt even make an effort and was looking for an excuse to fall on the floor :patsch ive always said no fighters are bums but this guy honestly was a bum, a scared bum at that :-(

    Dimitrenko, McCline or McCall.

It was an all our four round battle. Sykes is a true warrior and went down from a huge right hand in the 4th round, trying hard to get up, but not making it onto his feet in time.

No, Sykes basically ran, held, and looked for any opportunity to lie down. The ref even helped him up after one of the uncalled knockdowns. Horrible fight, but an expected solid performance by Povetkin and he looked less flabby tonight than he did against Chambers. The national anthems were funny as hell too. The guy who sang the American national anthem didn't even know all the correct lyrics and sang like he was acting as a **** singer for American Idol. I felt sorry for Sykes.. the reason why he was so uninspired during the fight is probably because of the horrible singing performance.

The event was more of a party/homecoming for Povetkin than an actual boxing match. I still can't believe the -160 odds for the under.. Povetkin and Gamboa made a great contribution to my Cotto by KO fund.

Nobody wanted to fight him, unless the match was postponed to September.

How do you know? Dimitrenko is protected. But McCall and McCline would have fought him for fair money.

Early on they had some better options than Sykes, but all of the opponents either wanted more money or wanted a later date. Jameel is Povetkin's sparring partner. McCall wouldn't be any kind of test anyways and I don't think he would take a fight at 3-4 weeks notice.

    What a disgrace of a fight !

No shadow over Povetkin, who went out and did the job against a guy
that showed every possible sign of not wanting to be in that ring.

Almost seemed like Povetkin was pissed at Sykes after the fight, for not bringing his A-game, which is understandable.

It´s simply not enough to withdraw Sykes purse, he should have his license flushed down the f*cking toilet for his performance in this fight.

Not much of a test for Povetkin if he´s preparing for Klitschko next.

First Povetkin fight i have seen (disgraceful opponent unfortunately, doesn't that man have any pride).

Workrate seemed a bit low for someone who gets a big wrap about it, though obviously Sykes didn't exactly help that aspect by running and clinching like a *****.

Povetkin's power didn't seem great, Sykes was there to be hit, hands dropped, tired, no morale, slow, Povetkin wasn't really capitalising with vicious combos like he should have.

But in all fairness, this is probably a terrible fight to judge him on for the first time, Povetkin looked genuinely annoyed when the fight ended as though he thought Sykes was just pathetic, and rightfully so.

No blame attached to Povetkin at all, but Sykes was dreadful. I was far from the only one predicting a very short yet very bad fight, and sadly that's exactly what it was...the only plus point was to keep the ring rust off of Povetkin.

Povetkin is a bit of a slow starter, though. Against Chambers it took until the 4th or so to get his workrate really above the 50/60 punches a round.

Sykes performance was so bad, I hope he never gets back into the ring again.

Povektin didn't get a chance to get much work in. He did have an very good round three, but the ref blew the knockdowns, and robbed the fans of a clean victory.

the look on povetkins face, just after the 10 count, really said all there is to be said.

i cant remember seing any pro athlete, looking like that after a win. and if you look closely, on his way from the neutral corner to his own , povetkin is talking to himself and that look on his face, sums up this fight.
