Then why it's ok for him to fight Seferi, Pianeta, Shwartz and others?

Fury: I don't wish to fight Ortiz or Povetkin because they are too old and bring nothing to the table

Translation Gypsy->English : I wish to stay away from experienced, veteran boxers because they bring a lot of danger and threat to my ranking.

Fury: I am taking on young and hungry cats in Wallin and Schwarz, who are undefeated. They bring a lot of danger to the table, and did I mention they are young and hungry?

Translation Gypsy->English : I like to offer the prestigious opportunity to win my lineal belt to young inexperienced fighters who have been feasting on bums so that when they fight me they won't be ready and I can look good knocking them out, and people will think I am cool.

I can still remember when froch vs ggg was being talked about in the states and the promoters said no because it wouldn’t sell

But somehow fury vs euro bum is completely fine stateside ?

Fury wasn’t lucky. When you get up from two shots like that, that’s all will. And I won’t judge who beats Wilder until he retires.

I just don’t think that Povetkin has the style to beat Fury. He’s too much at a size and reach disadvantage. Jmo.

ESPN will lose their ass by giving Fury that contract. it would lose them money even if he were exciting and only fought top ten fighters. i'd expect espn is totally out of televising boxing within five years.

I dont know why people favour the chin that was dropped by Cunningham & Pjakic and rocked by Flirtha to one of two fighters in the divison that has the best left hook in the divison. Especially when you consider the chinny fighter has been dropped twice when he fought the only fighter inside the top 40 he has fought in the past 4 years.

I don't like the logic here.

    - Fury would batter Povetkin (who is a borderline top 10-15 fighter)
    - Therefore, let's not have Fury fight Povetkin but rather some unknown bum (boxrec 75)

It doesn't matter what Fury "would" do, he should always strive for the best opponents. Not the lowest risk, most boring ones.

If Povetkin is easy fight, why would Fury dodge it? Its a huge and interesting fight and there will be money on the table and a lot of interest for that match and then we will understand more about Fury.
Povetkin hasnt anything to prove, the only thing left for him is to fight money matches and of couse title matches(where the money is). Yet he still want to prove himself and fight quality opposition.

It would be Fury's second best victory ever. By no means is he trying to accomplish close to that until the Wilder rematch happens.

Attitudes toward Fury might be different if he wasn't busy fighting Sefer Seferi Seferio and Tom Schwarzenegger.

Top 3-type fighters in a division need to be facing at least guys who can be described as "fringe top 10" or guys who once were proven top 10's to avoid warranted criticism. Does it happen often? Not as much nowadays. But that seems a noble and hard to argue against opinion to have (I haven't bothered to read about Fury/Wallin reaction but I'm guessing fanboys will be fanboys).

Fury's team have been saying for months that they only want to face taller fighters before Wilder II. Not gonna change that now.
