Haye Monte Barrett-who was completely shot and wobbled him at one point. Valuev-who he won a boring and controversial decision against. Ruiz-who he dominated but was well past his prime, never a big HW or a big puncher. Povetkin Donald-who is a true HW, was robbed against Valuev, and was shut out by Povetkin Byrd-a former world champion, in his 14th pro fight, who he stops in impressive fashion. Chambers-a fast, young HW, who has taken down a lot of fighters, and was undefeated at the time. Neither man is the most impressive ever, but I think the clear edge goes to Povetkin.
Easy to try and make a point when you deliberating down-play Haye's wins and prop up Povetkin's. Your bias is obvious. What about the fact that Donald was 40 at the time, coming off a 2 year lay off and never that good to begin with. What about the fact that Byrd was well past his best aswell?
Well one thing we do know is Povetkin is not scared to fight a Klitschko like Haye is. Does anyone here seriously think Povetkin or many other Heavyweights could not have beaten Valuev in the manner Haye did by literally running and throwing 11.9 pot shot punches a round? :rofl
A pickem fight. Haye's natural ability probably outweighs Povetkins. However, Povetkin has much more solid technique and fundamentals. However, while you raise an interesting point about who would win H2H, that doesn't really answer who is the better overall fighter. Who would win more often against a wider variety of boxers? Who would win more often against a higher standard of competition? I could picture Povetkin beating every other fighter in the top ten barring the Klits. I could picture Haye losing a couple - but his wins may be flashier. It's up to both fighters to prove who is better, let's hope they finally have the balls to make the fights.
tough call. Due to number of fights and who they have fought. i give it to Povetkin. but I can see both sides claiming the other is better.
