TL/DR

WBA-Regular was not a highly regarded belt, and still Povetkins first few defenses absolutely destroy anything on Wilders resume. The WBC belt is one of the most coveted in boxing, the WBA-Regular is regarded as a joke by most fans. These first two defenses have been pathetic, and Wilder struggled more than he was supposed to, a true world class heavy destroys this fraud.

 

Povetkin's win against Chagaev appears to mean more than Wilder's win vrs Stiverne. Sure Stiverne was champ but only via wins vrs Arreola who is now, not much later, regarded as a gatekeeper.

Povetkin's WBA title wasn't a real heavyweight title so idk how we can call it a "title reign".

Povetkin has had some bad nights but he would have been a heavyweight titleist if the Klitschko Bros hadn't been around. Wilder's WBC title is Povetkin's last real shot at a title and opens up a shot at an older version of Wlad.

 

Let's put it this way: Wilder's next possible title challenger, Wawrzyk, is not among the top10 opponents of Povetkin.

 

That was then and this is now though. At the moment Wilder's management are recruiting at soup kitchens.

 

I would go further: Wlad Klitschko defended against Derrick Jefferson, who was coming off two consecutive KO losses, and Charles Shufford, who was really a nobody, after capturing the title against Byrd. This is I think maybe worse than Molina and Duhaupas.

Haye defended the WBA against John Ruiz and Harrison - none of them was anywhere close to the top 15 at the time.

Wilder has to step up know, let's wait until the Povetkin fight. I think he will lose, but I would not be surprised to see the contrary outcome.

 

Povetkin's record ****s all over Wilder's. He's got victories over Chris Byrd, Eddie Chambers, Ruslan Chagaev, Marco Huck. Those are good names. And his last couple fights against Charr, Takam, and Perez were all good fights against highly rated contenders. Any one of the last three is as good as Stiverne, and the four prior are better. Plus, he might have lost, but at least he fought Wlad Klitschko, the legit champ of the heavyweight division.

 

Yeah, but right after that he fought Botha, McCline, and Sanders who were good fighters at the time. I don't get the feeling from Wilder that he's suddenly going to change his stripes and step up his competition like that. He's a little too happy facing bums.

 

As soon as Wilder-Povetkin gets made, Povetkin will instantly become shot and overrated. :thumbsup

Povetkin has a great resume top to bottom. Much better than your average top 5 ranked/division type of fighter. And that's in the poor division of HW which is impressive for those who question his willingness and opposition because he's amassed a high quantity of good opponents with limited quality opponents to pick from.

 

Povetkin isn't a champion. The belt he's holding it's only a paper one, the real title is held by Wladshko, anyone knows that.

And most importantly, he has actually fought Wlad, unlike Beyoncè Wildest that is avoiding him like he owed him moneys.

Povetkin has also tried to fight Beyoncè, but Beyoncè is scared.
