Povetkin refusing VADA testing...could be trouble

    The WBC recently teamed up with VADA to have VADA administer the WBC's mandatory drug testing.

    I'm hearing rumors that the Povetkin camp is refusing to undergo VADA testing.

    Could this keep the fight from going forward? If I were Wilder, I'd be very nervous and very suspicious of Povetkin refusing to use VADA.

    Having a non-Russian organization conduct the testing is critical, considering that last year, the World Anti-Doping Agency suspended the Russian testing agency (RUSADA) for non-compliance with global anti-doping rules. WADA accused RUSADA of covering up cases of doping by Russian athletes, giving them advance knowledge of supposedly surprise tests and allowing banned athletes to continue competing.

    Should Wilder refuse to participate in the fight unless Povetkin agrees to VADA testing as WBC requires?

    Should the WBC strip Povetkin for refusing to comply with the WBC's new drug testing requirements?

    With RUSADA being disgraced and the entire Russian system being questioned any testing in Russia should be done by respected and certified outside bodies like VADA. Any refusal while not proof of doping is incredibly suspicious.

    I'd make a formal request for VADA testing to be in place and if Povetkin doesn't agree then for him to be stripped of his mandatory position and rights.

    He should definitely be stripped if he does not comply. This really just confirms what many already suspect.

    And the funny thing is people were accusing Wilder of being dirty ..Red flags Red Flags all day around Povetkin !

    Talk about double standards on these boards. Not from you, OP, but the "fans" who cry about certain fighters but go silent on this.

    That said, it's just speculation, nothing concrete.

    Anyone with a brain cell knows he's on the juice....you don't improve your physique, power and overall Boxing ability that drastically in such a short time at that point in your career.

    Wilder has NEVER been tested before. Of course he's suspicious. Povetkin had undergone random testing before. Wilder never.

    Ive been ranting for world champion Deontay Wilder to face a world champion worthy opponant for once. Atlast we are guna get it but if Wilder refuses this fight then i am not guna write one negative thing about his decision.

    He said not long ago in an interview somewhere that if the testing is not satisfactory there may well not be a fight. That was before any of this thing came about but i wouldnt blame him for sticking to his word on it.

    I've been suspicious of Povetkin for a long time, so this doesn't shock to me in the least. Deontay and Haymon need to put their foot down and make a huge issue out of this and bring as much public shame to this situation as possible, this dirty bull**** in Russia needs to stop, Golovkin and Kovalev had no problem whatsoever undergoing VADA testing and they retained their power and passed, he's not a doper what the **** is Sasha so scared of?

    Funny how things change. I remember people claiming Wilder was attempting to duck by accusing Povetkin of PEDs, now it seems more and more people are catching on.
