Is Atlas going to be his trainer? He has not trained anyone in years, and was only trainer for short time compared to anyone else rated at top.

I still think Povetkin could be a threat to Wladimir. He´s a pressure fighter, can take a punch and has a great workrate. He´s not a hard puncher like Brewster/Sanders, but he´s not featherfisted. I hope he has the balls to fight Wlad now.

    Too many people underrating Povs.

While I'm not a Wlad fan, Povetkin is a good fighter who deserves a little credit here. 18 fights with names on his resume that most fighters at 30+ don't have. He's technically refined, has some good tools to work with and has an amazing workrate.

If Wlad beats him (I think he will), it'll be a very good win for his resume and a solid fighter worth talking about. Much better than all of Wlad's opponents recently.

I agree with part of your argumnet but Briggs is fast and hits a lot harder than Poevtkin. Although Poev is more deserving for the title shot.

Read in an article about Atlas training Povetkin and somewhere else, that Wlad is considering fighting Arreola next(september) and then Povetkin in december.

    Anyone know anything about this?

Hey Chef, can you confirm these rumors? Thanks

Wlad makes an excellent job. He is a great Champion. Fighting his mandatories and not only choose his opponents.

Wlad has the behaviour of a great Champion.

Great for boxing and boxing fans.

How can Wlad fight somebody in September and than two months later fight somebody else. HBO has a date for Wlad on December 12th-that's when he'll likely fight. If Povetkin-goes missing again-than he loses his mandatory challenger statuts. Goosen made clear that Arreola will fight a former champion in September-which rumor has it will be Oleg Maskeav. I don't think Goosen takes a chance and sits out Arreola for another few months, so he (Arreola) could lounge around and eat a few more hot dogs-the guy hasn't found since April-so I highly doubt the guy waits all the way to fight in December. Personally, I think Goosen and Arreola are rather happy and content with being the mandatory challenger for Vitlai-who at this point is older and more stationary than Wladmir. Despite all the contrary rumors- I think Wlad fights Povetkin (the money will be too enticing for Povetkin) -if he doesn't he could fight chambers. Wlads prefrences as Chef stated were Povetkin-Chambers-than Arreola.

    Yes. :good

Wladimir is too good and now he will have the chance to destroy a Teddy Atlas fighter. His motivation will be high for this fight.

Povetkin is going to get bombed out in this one. :bbb

Eddie Chambers was busting Povetkin up badly with 1-2's. His defense is to eat the punches while coming forward. Wlad will find him and stop him inside 8.

Atlas trying to reinvent the wheel now will not be of much use to Alexander. Atlas can't teach him to slip the best jab in the division enough to make it a non-factor in the fight.

Even if he does manage to get inside, he doesn't have enough power to bother Wladimir imo. His footwark is average -- he actually seems to have become a plodder recently. Wladimir knows how to keep a guy resetting; Povetkin is going to be no different in there.

It's the Big Leagues for Povetkin now. He's a good fighter, but Wladimir is just all wrong for him.

Why do you Klitschko nuthuggers try to build up all these tomato cans Wlad is fighting. Povetkin is a human punching bag. He's just going to stand there and get hit and not hit back. ANd then you make Boytsov out to be something knowing full well he has not fought anyone.

Wlad doesnt have anything set for September. Vitali does. Wlad has a date of December 12th only at this time. We will see how it all plays out. IMO it will be either Povetkin or Arreola. Chamber will be WBO Mand next year.

Povekin is the mand. If he backs out, I think the IBF will have Wlad face #2 which is Arreola
