Way to go *******! Pulls out of the fight with Wlad for the 2nd time!! atsch Are u kidding me? How is Wlad's legacy going to improve if he doesn't stomp your ass? Your just delaying the inevitable. Now Wlad has to fight Sam Peter....Again. He already beaten him once(peter also lost to chambers, whom Wlad destroyed)...the result will be the same. How is this going to improve Wlad's Legacy? I guess Peter is in better shape now a days back down to 235lb. I still think it's just a waste of time. Povetkin...Man up and grow some balls! I was so looking forward to this fight...Just so disspointing. I feel like this always happens. :fire:fire:fire:fire
I don't know what the situation is with any of Povetkin, Haye or Solis, but he needs to get one of them in the ring and none of them look likely at the moment. Disappointing.
John L Sullivan had the same problem with a couple of key contenders of his era who might have helped his legacy. Amazing as it might sound, I see historic paralels between Wlad and Jawn.
Except Jawn never had the three damaging KOs to casts doubts on his chin, which Wlad needs to desperately erase by cleaning out the division. Why did Povetkin pull out of the fight? And why in the world was Peter chosen? Although i can think of dozens of better opponents and although Wlad has already beaten him, suppose it was a decent fight, and you would hope peter has improved since then (i havent really watched himmuch) . He has a good chin to take punches and will at least try to land his big shots, so who knows, maybe he will make a fight of it. Upsets happen, and he probably has as good a chance (maybe even better) than some of the other top contenders like Haye, Adamek, etc. In the circumstances probably not a bad fight. Now, how will this affect his legacy. A win, will acctually show that Wlad has improved. Lets not forget that Wlad was knocked down three times the last time the pair fought, so if he dominates the win, his new style adds to his legacy because it shows that he has continued to improve. If he doesnt win, then that obviously throws the whole heavyweight scene into a tailspin, but it also certainly opens some big possibilities for Peter-Vitali II, Wlad-Peter III, and of Course Haye-Peter etc. And Peter seems to be in good shape looking at his weight in the last couple of fights, so who knows.
Iron chinned punchers vs Wlad is always interesting. Who's the only fighter in the last 5 1/2 years? Peter. What kind of fighters have beaten Wlad in 2 of his three losses? Iron chinned punchers. Truly, this is the worst match-up that could possibly happen, Wladimir potentially dominating a fighter he had a degree of trouble with before even more throughly, which would show marked improvements on his part.
I'm with Q. Haye, Valuev, and Povetkin need to man up and face the Klitschko's. The avoidance of the best possible matches being made is hurting the game.
