While taking Povetkin's "0" is more beneficial to Wlad's legacy, I think if Peter shows up in shape, it can still be a good match. If it plays out like the first match, it will at least be exciting. Maybe Peter gets the upset this time, or we'll see how much Wlad has developed defensively since their first bout. Chef on General forum is saying that the Peter-Wlad fight will also be on ESPN, which will also be very nice. Overall, it's not the ideal setup, as Haye, Valeuv, Povetkin, Solis, and Adamek need to step up or at least fight each other soon, but an ESPN title rematch between two people who made an enticing first bout is hardly the worst case scenario. It's certainly no Vitali-Briggs.
Not sure what the hell is up with Povetkin... anyway Peter gave Wladimir a hell of a night th last time they fought, doubt he can do it again though. Peter hasn't beat a notable fighter since Maskaev in '08.
Valuev has no relevence in the scene anymore. Povetkin is a solid contender, but I don't think that he has the magnitude to make or break a champion's legacy. David Haye is the most valuable of those 3, and is holding a title that should in all honesty belong to Klitschko.. This is the fight that needs to be made, but I think that Haye is either going to wait until Wlad either retires, loses to someone is more palatable to Haye, or show massive signs of deterioration.
The problem that Sullivan had like Klitschko is that he emerged into a vacum. There was not title and he essentialy had to create it.
Then there's threads about heavyweights and who they fought in this and that era...and the klitschkos are being denied those props due to sniveling cowards... take their ****in belts. Away when they bail on a fight... then they'll get in the ring
You need to read this, Suzie, it was in The Caxap Villager (English Version) this morning. I don't think it was Povetkin's fault. Naive mistake. :conf This content is protected
Looks like Povetkin is looking to fight Haye, if David will and this is a fight that would favor Povetkin, possibly but the winner of this fight would be a major attraction vs Vlad Other than that I can not see the logic of Povetkin and Haye not to go for the real title vs Vlad...years ago men would die for a title fight and we all know Vlad is the real champ and Haye and Povetkin are merely contenders but I would be excited to see Haye and Povetkin fight and the winner of that fight would be a strong contender for Vlad's title
I think two top fighters of the era (Povetkin and Haye) going at it before going for the real title is good, even if the most likely reason is them ducking Wlad. The real problem with this current division is that the top contenders get their title shots, lose badly, give up, and then lose to the next up and comer. None of the top contenders prove themselves to be a stride ahead of the others because it's more lucrative to be undefeated going into a title match, collect a paycheck, and call it a night. More fights like Chambers-Peter (even if he was out of shape), Arreola-Adamek, Povetkin-Chambers, etc. would do a lot.
If this is true, I am fine with it. The winner of Haye vs. Povetkin will be the clear #3 man behind the Klitschkos. I like Povetkin via KO if Haye dares to fight him.
