Lol, we all remember what happend to Sykes a few years ago when he faced Peter right? Sam blasted him out early, and punched his head of the ropes on his way down to the canvas. Sykes did give Rahman a tough fight about a year and a half ago, but that isnt saying much.

Nobody wants to reply to my quote on this thread???????? why is it good for povektin to take a safe fight and not risk anything but when Peter wants to do the same thing before vitali,,, he is a bum

Povetkin dont have title, Peter does. As far I'm concerned, Audley is a pretty tough oppenent, if he can weather the storm early on, he may just outbox Peter. Sykes is a good bit worse than Audley, who actually has good skills, Sykes got his head bounced off the ropes in a very violent knockout for Peter just a couple years back, I know you remember the fight.

Povetkin knows he's not ready for Wlad so he wants the fight, Peter is taken on Audley for two reasons, to stay busy in case Vitali drops out, which most here are perdicting, as well as getting used to fighting bigger men with a good jab and reach advantage, which will help when it comes time to fight Vitali later this year. Neither man should be made fun of for the warm-up fights they chosen to fight.

Just a filler fight really. Can't criticize Povetkin, he's just keeping his hand in.
Might've been better if he'd picked a taller opponent though.

I agree, they probably should have picked a fighter that more so resembles Klitschko. Even just fighting a tall guy would have been a good idea.

Povetkin is in for a real test when and if he fights Wladimir, any extra experiece will do him good.

Nope. Sykes is a perfect stay busy type of opponent. Povektin has already earned his shot vs Wlad. The Chambers match was not Povetkin's best performance. Povekin will look good vs Sykes.

did anyone see him get stopped by bryant?

he rolled out the ring and had a walk about...the camera was looking at teddy atlas and joe tesitore...then you see a half naked, tatooed, musculer giant just bowling behind them :rofl
i heard there was no doctors there either. so it was just his trainers and bryans manager doing what ever they could to help him.

sykes is good though not a big puncher but is a strong guy and knows his way round the ring... decent workrate and a good defence. bryant and peter got to him due to there pressure and power. which works well against powderpuffs. as there is no way to keep them of you.

if you give him room and space he can beat you. thats what rahman did. he gave him room so that hasim could throw the jab...but sykes was able to move and throw right hands over it when it came.

i think sykes could do well...but povetkin would be all over him. and be knocked down at least

Vantage, Sykes is getting smoked. Povetkin is faster than him, and despite all this talk of Povetkin not having serious power virtually all of his stoppages have come off of one punch freezing his opponent allowing him to finish them off.

Povetkin should have fought someone like Golota or Krasniqi, hell his sparring partners Williamson and McCline would have been better.

Exactly. This is simply a tune-up, against the least risky sort of opponent they could find. Which, given that a Klitschko fight is on the table, is exactly what Povetkin should be doing.
