H2H, prime v prime. The best smaller HWS of the latter half of the Klitschko era. I suspect "hypothetical Haye", who could never lose a theoretical bout so long as he wasn't injured (in the eyes of his rabid fan base), will get more votes. But I think Sasha gets a late ko in a barnburner where both visit the canvass. Too bad this fight never happened.
Haye would fight hyper defensively, and off the backfoot and most likely KO Povetkin, who's chin isn't as great as most seem to think it is, late in the fight.
Haye would win, styles make fights. Haye was a counter puncher, he always preferred when fighters came to him which is why he sucked so bad vs Wlad but then destroyed durable guys like Chisora. Povetkin would make it a tough fight for sure but eventually him walking in to Haye's power would see him undone.
Haye KO, Povetkin is a client for Hay. Povetkin is boxing in the aggressive miner, but has holes in defense, and for Haye it would be a "gift". In addition, Haye has more reach and (if we are talking about simple prime numbers), Haye was faster.
Povetkin of the Takam and Perez fights would be too much for Haye. What is Haye's best display? Old John Ruiz? Fat 250lb Del? Glass chinned Enzo?
I think it will play out similarly to Haye/Chisora, only a little lighter on the action and a lot more competitive. Povetkin will undoubtedly give Haye more problems than the primitive Chisora, and certainly win his fair share of rounds but ultimately, if you're being objective, you've got to admit Haye has the stylistic advantage and the superior speed and power so I've gotta give him the edge in this one. About 70/30 Haye, and that's coming from a big fan of Саша.
Haye and his overhyped, overrated power on display again here. I would take Povetkin for a UD or late knock out.
povetkin has about twice as much power as chisora, he would of had haye out of there if he was landing that much.
Haye by late stoppage, because of Povetkin size and reach. Haye was overhyped, in thinking he can beat a near prime Wlad. But you put him in there with a shorter aggressive fighter, on a lower level than Klitschko and he causes big damage. Very big puncher and very dangerous against the shorter heavyweights. Didn't think he could stop Chisora that early.
Quite an intriguing matchup, with arguments to be made for both men. A few years ago I would have gone with Haye, as despite his lack of quality at heavyweight he always possessed a very dangerous style for come forward guys like Povetkin. But Povetkin has since proved his mettle with wins over guys like Takam and Perez, while Haye's limitations have only become more apparent. I think Haye would likely shine in the early rounds, possibly scoring a knockdown or two against the rather hittable Povetkin. But unless he puts him away, which not even Wlad was able to do, then I think Povs comes into his own from about the mid rounds onwards and scores a late TKO over an exhausted and battered Haye. I can also see it going for Haye as well, in a similar fight to the Chisora matchup, though lasting longer and being more competitive. I just think a better argument can be made for Povetkin based on past results, since Haye has twice been stopped in gruelling attrition fights (Thompson, Bellew) while Povetkin has never been stopped in his career. There's more for Haye to prove here than vice versa.
Exciting fight. I can see Povetkin surviving the early onslaught, maybe having to get up off the canvas, and taking Haye out after he tires in the mid to late rounds. It would be a back and forth fight. Povetkins heart, power, strength and skills get the better of Haye eventually.
