I see Povetkin winning a lopsided decision here. Although his chin is suspect because he's never been tested. But i'd expect him to be a lot quicker than Maskaev and avoiding big bombs from Sam, easily outboxing him in the meantime. Would be a great fight and a huge test for Povetkin.

I dont think he would KO him either. But i did vote that he would beat peter by decision. I just think based on what I've seen from both guys that Povetkin could outbox peter and get in and out, do his work, and avoid his bombs.

Boxing is a mental game, isnt it!

On top of that all Sam Peter cant hold a candle to Povetkin in terms of natural skills and talent.Besides Povetkin has never been floored neither at the pros nor at the amateurs with one exception.Timurziev was able to knock him down at the amateurs. But lets be honest Sam Peter doesnt play in Timurziev's league. Timurziev is the big favourite to win gold at the upcomming olympic tournament in China.Whats more Peter just doesnt posess Timurziev's firepower.
Peter had a fierce struggle with a limited fighter like McCline.Cant really imagine that either Povetkin or Timurziev would struggle with a fighter like McCline.
    :D Obviously,I dont have that much imagination,brooklyn.

I feel pretty comfortable at this point in saying that Sam knocks Povetkin out. Povetkin could be more elusive though and pick shots on his way to a working decision. But if he tries and muscle Sam inside he gets clocked.

I am not familiar with Povetkin's pro record. Does anybody know what punchres he defeated?
In the last fight it looked like Povetin was stunned by Eddie's punches.
    Should I continue?...

Povetkin would probably quite comfortably win by decision.
He's on a different skill level, all Peter can hope for is to land something big and finish it, but it would most likely not happend since Peter is sloooow and Povetkin is experienced and has a good defense.

You will not be able to use your full leverage and hit him, and thats what Peter lives off, LEVERAGE. He's in your chest all the time and hes using headmovements to "nudge" most of the damage, sure he's suffered cuts and bruises, but in the end, he's the one delivering the most damage.

I would say Povetkin is miles ahead of Peter in either skill department.

Well said. Povetkin is VERY busy and wouldn't create any time for Peter to do his usual inside work and/or set his punches (which I think are overrated for power)

Yea Povetkin does smother long powershots. But my thinking is Sam still has that clubbing right hand. You know the one that people ***** about all the time where he sets it up with a forearm and then a right hand behind the ear. That punch will land on Povetkin. I'm sure of it.

I will agree that it would be insane to say that Wlads or Peters right will not land on Povetkin but what people typically overlook on Povetkin is his mental toughness, which is second to none. He will take Wlads and Peters best shots and still be throwing 70+ punches per round. I know how insane this sounds but Peters power is overrated (see Maskaev fight for the latest example) and Wlad is extremely mentally weak and will break down after Povetkin doesn't slow one bit from taking his best shots :yep

Povetkin will be bullied the whole fight, and will eventually be knocked out, probably in the 6th or 7th round. I believe it will be very exciting fight while it lasts, with both men landing, but Peters punches will be the more significant. I see Peter getting a overhand right in that rocks Povetkin very bad, and Peter will jump on him and continue the onslaught until the ref steps in and stops it.

I could see Peter/Povetkin being FOTY to be honest with both guys possibly getting up off the canvas at some point

I agree, other than Vitali/Peter, I cant see a more exciting styles matchup in the Heavyweight division right now. Povetkin has a great workrate and loves throw punches, Peter is a come forward, slug it out type fighter himself, which can make for fireworks early, but fights like those dont last all 12 rounds, I would give Peter the advantage because he's got more power, and is a little more battle tested, but Povetkin himself has the hand speed, stamina, defense advatage, so anythings possible in this one, but I dont see this one going to the cards.
