When Teddy Atlas was training Povetkin and even before in the Chambers fight he was getting hit an awful lot and the fight against Huck that version would get creamed in the 50's and beaten by the likes of Walcott,Charles,Johnson, possibly Satterfield. I would give that version no chance against Marciano,Moore,Walcott,Charles and could be beaten by many. However since the Vlad fight I have been highly impressed. His last 3 wins have been excellent and he has shown power and stamina and smarts. This present version would be competitive in the 50's the 60's and the 70's,80's and 90's. I dont see him beating the very best but he has his share of wins in the top 5 in any era. Again its his last 3 fights I speak of and this version would be a danger to anyone and also to Vlad in a rematch(which will only happen if he beats Wilder soon) I see him being a danger to anyone in current form even Lennox Lewis, Foreman,Marciano,Ali,Holmes,Holyfield, etc. I dont know if he wins but he looks strong in his present form
He still gets hit a lot. Carlos Takam was landing all sorts of slaps on him. Problem is, they were slaps. I'm not sure Takam's any good, but he's probably better than Charr and Perez. I can't see any improvement in Povetkin. He's probably deserving of a ranking of the second best HW in the world, but he's miles behind Wlad. A rematch would be pointless. Jennings did better against Wlad.
To be fair, Wlad also never bothered getting out of 3rd gear against Jennings when it became apparent Bryant was OK with just surviving. The fight got more lopsided once the point deduction woke him up.
Rocky beat a great fighter Nino recorded 18 victories over men rated in the top 10 at some point in there careers. He also beat 4 men 3 times by stoppage to contenders who fought for the world title
Are you trying to make the claim Wlad was 'OK' with putting on a stinkfest for his return fight to The States - in a fight where the opponent was hand picked for him to look impressive?? Do you expect people to believe he could of put on a show but chose to put in a workmanlike performance instead? Is this the lengths Wladturds will stoop- to make excuses for his shortcomings? A guy never coming out of gear looks like Fury against Chisora for example. Playing with him , toying with him, trying out new things. That was not Wlad against Jennings. Never coming out of 3rd gear means you are out boxing a guy so easily that you can do pretty much whatever you want. You don't need to constantly clinch and hold if you have such control over the opponent. Wlad was serial clinching because he was unable to blow away Jennings because he employed some very basic movement. The look of discomfort on his face when he was being warned early was as clear as day.
Hand picked to look impressive is Wilder picking out an opponent outside the top 50 in Molina. Wlad chose the ring # 5 contender and the WBC # 1 contender and defeated him 9-3 in his opponents backyard at age 39. I was there the atmosphere was great and while the bout was not great I've seen far worse.
I only wonder how long it will take Dino the Bet Welching Potato to turn on Fury for having the audacity to let him down against Wlad.
if chubby boy was in the 50s, first thing he would do is run in terror from the 50s boxers all the way to Doc Browns house to get him to send him back to the future. So he can continue beating up gassing near40something fatboys and hasbeens.
Why did you one day think you were above everybody when you made a thread announcing you were leaving. Like anybody gave a flying fock. And since nobody cared you came running back:tired Win or lose against Wlad - i'll still be a fan of Fury.
Wilder is a great example of rough talent that is not being polished in any way correctly. Hopefully he will mature and blossom before he fights Wlad. He could beat Wlad easily with the proper training and guidance.
More power to 'em! I say some goofy **** on here. This is boxing, you should know the first retirements rarely stick. :!: Besides, I've still got a couple more weeks before the CFA results come back and I get back to studying one way or the other. Glad to see Wlad's still got you more wrecked than ever.
This is not a knock on Valdes, but had lost 4 of his last five fights. Regardless of the circumstances surrounding those defeats. A case can certainly be made that Charles underestimated his man. I've seen conflicting views, United press say Charles seemed sluggish ... the Tuscaloosa newspaper said it was fast all the way. That's all I've read myself. Regardless I'd take Povetkin over Valdes if they were both at their best
anyone in the top ten. and being without internet kliturds to back him up with ridiculous threads like this.
