Why aren't you guys talking about this one fight? Call me crazy, but I think Boswell will give Povetkin problems, maybe even stop him. This one fight may be perfect for my "Handpicked deluxe" thread.
i wouldnt call ya crazy Chagaev had him hurt I dont know if Boswell is a good enough boxer to get to him
From what I've seen of Boswell I think he could pull of the upset. But I lost interest in Povetkin, so I can't remember how much he's slipped.
It's an interesting heavyweight match not getting much play around here. If Boz has a good night and Sasha has a bad night...:think It could get real interesting. Of course, Povetkin by wide UD is the probable/smart-money outcome.
Boswell could possibly win, but then what? I can't believe it is called a championship fight. So then what, the winner fights one of the Klits brothers and loses. Then another belt will pop up like a weed. If they actually make it a fight, then I really don't care if it is for a belt. No excitement at HW.
Boswell vs. Grant to unify the WBA and WBF? I'm...kinda serious. Grant vs. Botha was supposedly very good action for HW. If Boswell puts on a good show against Povetkin (and scores the upset) - why not pit him against Grant in a hopefully electric match-up of guys who've been hanging around in fringe contention forever. If it happens after August it could be the first ever heavyweight unification between two guys in their forties? Am I correct on that? :think :yep
A Boswell win wouldn't surprise me, he's a good fighter. And with Teddy Atlas in Povetkin's corner, Cedric's chances are better - just like Guinn and McCline's chances were better against Grant, Foreman's were better against Moorer, Wilson's were better against Briggs, etc. So, even though I do expect Povetkin to win by decision, I think there's a very real possibility for an upset in this one!
I would really be surprised with a Boswell decision. Povetkin may be one the biggest dissapointments in boxing, but he is still a good fighter. He may not have looked great against Chagaev, but whoever has (besides Wlad)? He still beat Chag, who is a better fighter than Boswell. Even a KO win wouldn't be a big surprise.
I'm rooting for Boswell a) because he's maybe the most likable heavyweight contender around and one of the longest-running and most consistently hard-working. b) Atlas needs to eat some humble pie. If he maneuvered Sasha to a Klitschko shot and lost he could just say "Well, it was a Klitschko. :conf What ya gonna do?". Losing to Boz would be far more humbling and prove him for the fraud he is.
i dont know much about Boz i know he was beating McCline badly before getting stopped but then what happened did he just disappear why did it take him so long to re appear did he fight nobodies for a decade
**** luck, no big promotional backing. Isn't a knockout artist or an Olympic medalist, so there's little marketability for him at heavyweight. He's been TCOB, though - beating the guys that are put in front of him that he's supposed to beat and staying in shape.
just seems odd that a guy whose been unbeaten for yrs and American has not been shoved right into a title fight
